is it safe to uninstall the native apps?

hi,

i would like to know if it's perfectly ok to uninstall (or is it even possible) native apps such as the "Messages" if I already have the "Handcent" or "People" if I already have the "Phonebook 2.0" on an unrooted Desire?

thanks!

Hi,
You can't actually uninstall them with the stock ROM. There are custom ROM's that can be installed on a rooted phone that would probably allow you to remove them. You need to just remove the icon if you don't want to use it.
Cheers

Make sure you disable notifications on the stock app if using handcent!

Do you know how to remove the android native icon ?

The custom ROMS I don't think you can remove anything either. I think you need to sign up to say MoDaCo to get a custom rom leaving out what you don't want.

One way around this if you use launcherpro - you aren't uninstalling them but you can go to general settings > hidden apps and hide the ones you don't want or use from view

Wrong section, but once you are rooted you can do anything (via adb commands)
