Root Is it worth installing the vm update?

They are two completely different beasts.

If you have cell reception issues (poor phone call quality or bad 3g speeds), you will want to use the VM security update.

ICS has nothing to do with it, but if you want to experience the latest, give it a go. ;)

Yes and no.

Yes - BACKside has had the known security issues fixed for a long time thanks to CyanogenMod and AOSP posting security bug fixes.

No - At this time, we do not know how to install the radio without flashing the security update. You can make a backup of your current ROM in recovery, flash the VM security update twice with a factory reset in-between, root it using Gordita root, then restore your backup to have your phone back the way it was with a shiny new radio. ;)

Sorry for the many questions...
I know the airplane mode toggle that you have to do to keep your cell standby from being 50% so that your battery actually lasts through the day.
I am guessing the rom fixed this bug? As when I turn it on and go to battery stats, under cell standby it says like 1%.
