Help is juice defender safe?

The second day I got my phone I downloaded ready battery saver or something like that and it permanently killed my data connection and I had to do a factory reset so I has to redo everything and I have not downloaded anything like that since. It's been a few months and people keep taking about juice defender because it turns off your data when your screen is off. Do you think it's safe to download or not. Honestly, I'm scared stiff of messing up my phone again, but I need my battery. Help me out?

the truth is u can try them and just download data switch. so that if you dont see your data come on. just click it and it will. turn it on. u can also manually go to (settings> wireless&network> mobile networks> and enable data) =]

I use it on my new Vivid and have had no issues at all. Connects to Mobile whenever I'm away from my home LAN and back again when I'm in range. Very configurable, and has various profiles to suit your needs and desire to be "hands on." Overnight, with the phone off, I see a 3-5% drop in the battery level.

Its probably safer than some of the others as it has it has a larger user base and more customers would notice if there were an issue.

That said, juicedefender did break my 4g the last time I was playing with it a few months ago. It was fixable without a factory reset but it wasn't an obvious solution.

I'm running it again now. So far so good.

I have a data toggle widget and it works great but when I'm out and about and i forget to turn it off I don't want my batery draining out on me

How did you fix it

i had a problem with juice defender where i wouldnt receive calls when my screen was off but when it was on i would get them anyone else have the same issue?

i tried juice defender, but i noticed it kinda slowed my phone down a bit. not sure why. does it throttle CPU? never found a CPU option anyway. didnt notice any battery saving either oddly. but hey, it didnt hurt either. can always uninstall

Update: juicedefender broke my 4g again lol. A lot of people run it without event but my phone doesn't like it at all. Trying out green power to see if it is gentler with my 4g settings.

Get Juice Defender Ultimate. I think it toggles the data MUCH faster than the free version. Plus you have MANY more tweaks you can do to your phone. I did a comparison and having JD clearly saves a TON of juice. The truth is always in the numbers so try them for yourself or take other peoples word. I've tried them all and JD is by far the best, but only the Ultimate so pony up the 5 bucks and be done with it. Trust me ;)

Out of curiosity, how does it "break" your 4G exactly?

Did you read the tutorial on how to use the app properly? You have to set the app correctly or it will not work right. I have NO problems with the app and i've been using it for months and months. My 4G STOPS as soon as my screen cuts off and doesn't come back on until I unlock my phone and it comes back on instantly. I can even check the time without unlocking it and the 4G still stays off like it's supposed to.

With 30 minutes of moderate use my battery ran down to 70. With 30 minutes of moderate use with JD on, my battery ran down to 95. Numbers don't lie. I tried all the battery apps and nothing came even remotely close to JD.

Some phones are different and apps can work different for all phones, BUT you must read the directions to ensure you are using the app to it's fullest and correctly in order to get everything out of it. :)

It breaks as in 1x only. No 4g for you. I did not have it set to manage the 2g/3g/4g section as that looked like trouble. Pretty much default except for some scheduling etc. I was using ultimate both times. Life is short. I'm moving on ;-)

I've used JD for months and with kanaidas kernel I get about 36 hours on a charge. No slow downs no data, wifi, or 4g issues. I do have JD ultimate and I love it. It turns data off when the screen is off and turns it on when I unlock the screen.

That's interesting. Honestly if it were me, I would figure why it's doing that and and fix it because it's the best battery saving app out there. All other apps are slow to turn data back on and they don't have NEARLY the amount of features as Ultimate JD.

If you ever want to use it again let me know and we can go over each setting with what I have set on mine and see if we can find the problem. :D

Thanks.

I did reinstall it. Had me annoyed yesterday but I know there is a good app in there somewhere.

Right now it is set to manage mobile by schedule & wifi by location. Thats it. No root access. No 2g/3g/4g toggle. Everything else is defaults. Keeping it simple and may add one feature at a time to see what is making it disable 4g. It happened twice so it wasn't a random thing.
