Root Is my LG Esteem destroyed?

Zoebatman

Newbie
Hey Android geniuses! I apologize if I didn't follow any forums rules or if this problem has been solved already as this is my first post. Any how:

I hard factory reset my phone bcus apparently I deleted an important app the phone needed. I rooted it to used a system bloatware removal app. This is about what the phone said when I deleted one of the apps

(the application com.nuance.nmcsihome.metropcs has stopped unexpectedly)

Whenever I go through the setup wizard after I hard reset it and I'm about to finally use the phone it says:

the application setup wizard (process com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly

Then it brings me to a black screen where all that's available is the notification bar (where I do have access to change the usb mode to charger only, storage, or internet connection).

I searched and found all the original apps the phone needs online, but when I access the phone storage on my laptop I don't see what folder they should be put in. (Where are the system app?) Please help me or point me to the right direction.

I am not that knowledgeable with things like this if you do have an answer please explain what you mean. (Ex. idk how to flash, or change the firmware)

Is this a hopeless situation? :( Please put me out of my misery if so. If you want to lend a more personal helping hand please PM or email me: coicoucoicou@gmail.com. Thank you in advance! :)

I'm guessing because you were deleting apps, you are rooted?

Download Android commander.

The files go in system/apps

Yeah your best bet is to download a new Rom. You can go and download one that fits your phone firmware first.

Did you just buy your phone or have you had it for a while.

nuance isnt a important app i deleted it manually with root explorer. but if u do delete an important app the phone will vibrate 2wice and give u that error message.

Thanksso much for replying.. I downloaded the android commander but I can't seem to find the systems/apps folder in the internal storage.

Thx for the reply. Recently buy it from someone else then rooted it. Where can I get a new rom for my phone and how do I install it on my phone?

Can you give me a step-by-step or some links to how to do it if you don't mind.

It's because it's not in internal storage. It's on the phones main drive. It's /system/apps

If it was internal sd i would have Told you /mnt/sdcard/system/apps.....which obviously doesn't exist.

Roms are located in the all things root guide. They all install the same and the post will have instructions for what to do.

I understand what you saying but "INTERNAL G:" is the only drive that appears on my computer when I connect my phone. Does that mean I don't have the right drivers on my laptop?

No. I'm taking about inside Android commander. You need commander to access the files. The sd is the only thing that's gonna show up on your pc because they are drives

Your best bet is to head over and download a ROM. Make sure you download a ROM for your firmware version. It's either zvb, c or zvd.
My suggestion is #2 rom but only if your on zvd.

If your not on zvd then you need to upgrade. Upgrade can be found as a sticky at the top of the page.

After 20 minutes of messing with my phone and android commander, my phone never appeared on the Android commander "select device" list. I don't know why, especially bcus I have the drivers on my computer. Idk why it's not appearing

Is the phone in internet connection and not mass storage and is usb debugging on?

I actually had it on both setting and it didn't work on either setting. And I don't think I can turn debugging on because I can only go as far as the setup wizard. That doesn't sound promising.

Ok well just put a ROM on your sd and flash it.

Do you have recovery installed?

Download a file manager like astro or root explorer. Paste the apk on your sd. Navigate inside the file manager to the apk and copy and paste it in system/apps. Reboot.

A lot of times system files have to be flashed but it's worth a try.

If it don't work just flash a ROM. Check your firmware first though so you flash the correct ROM

If recovery wasn't on the phone originally, I don't think I have it. Which ROM do you suggest I put in my SD card?

Also, does "flashing it" mean, opening the phone storage on the computer and clicking the setup file of the ROM while it's in the phone storage?

Flashing is done in Clockwork Mod which needs to be installed through the app ROM Manager. Download ROM Manager from Google play and flash Clockwork Mod.

You boot into CWM by holding power until the phone turns on and vibrates then press and hold BOTH volume up and down until you get to the reset screen. Press power through the screen and it will take you into Clockwork Mod. If Clockwork Mod isn't installed then it will just reset your phone so make sure you flash CWM thorough ROM manager before booting into it.

Once you have flashed CWM put a ROM on your SD and boot into CWM. Choose install zip from SD card. Choose the ROM and let it do it's thing.

ROM installation directions are in the threads for the ROMs.

All this info can be found in the All things Root guide.

I'm going to try and come back tomorrow. Bcus I know you need a break from me lol.. Thank so much for your unwavering patience lol

Hey I'm so sorry for not responding but I didn't feel like coming back until I got it to work. And truth is, I wasn't able to flash my rom for some reason. I even found a set-up that would root and had CWM at the same time and it didn't work. But I did fix it and I'm so proud I did it on my own.

When I was going through the factory reset wizard again and I set up my gmail account, the moment I finish adding my account I got an e-mail. Then something click in my mind. On my laptop I e-mailed myself a link to a launcher apk and navigated there and installed it in my phone! Now I'm in my phone so I can do all the necessary this so that is can never happen again. =)

hey guys i wanted to ask for some help on my esteem. i rooted it a while back and it worked using cwm. once i rooted it i started deleting what i thought were unimportant files and i must have deleted something extremely important because now i cant do anything with my phone it gets stuck on the lg logo. i tried hard reseting it by holding the volume up and down buttons and im able to facotry reset it but as soon as im almost finished setting up my phone i get a message saying SETUP WIZARD WAS NOT FOUND. then i cant do anything on my phone and the screen is black all i can see is the status bar on top but i cant even pull that down. i tried connecting it to my computer and i get another message saying USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED and i cant access it through my computer. i have run out ideas and im not that good at this rooting stuff please help me out. this is my second esteem ive gotten and im without a phone

go to LG MS910 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA and follow directions step by step, and once you get the updater installed,go to the top right and look for the options button, then click recovery management i think its called and this will update u to zve,the latests update, this is all i cn think of at the moment, now if u dnt want zve,dnt do it!!! but to me it looks to be your only option, and thats a maybe.hope it works lets us kno!

i downloaded everything i needed for the lg support and tools and i got the program up and the drivers updated and everything. the only thing is that my computer still doesn't recognize my phone so i cant use the lg support tool to update or recover my phone. it doesn't even give me the option to. the only thing i can do on my phone right now is access the location and security settings. there's an option there where is says INSTALL FROM SD CARD but i have no clue what to do with that if anything. i don't even care if i have to lose everything on my phone as long as i get it to work again
