Root Is my phone bricked???

So, I just got a used Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. I played around with it, rooted it and installed new firmware. That was all great. (Used this guide)

Now, I tried going back to a factory firmware, and it worked, but now the phone won't turn on. I could still get into "Download mode" so I put the XXVJR f/w back on. All was good. I tried to put a Froyo stock f/w on the phone and it seems like ODIN is no longer working. It stops just after doing the MD5 checks, then says "Do not turn off target device" and sits there.

So, now the phone won't do anything, unless it's going into the "download" mode. I just checked and it is turning on the screen, but nothing is displayed.

What can I do to fix this, or does this mean it's bricked? I'm just trying to go back to factory f/w so i can use Kies to update. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

i don't understand why people bother to temper with their phone by rooting it or flashing it with unpublished firmware, and later ask if their phone is bricked...just play by the rules and you'll be fine

Ok, so after some further playing around with it, I am now back up and running with the 2.3.4 Firmware (this one)

Now, all I'd like to do is go back to a factory firmware for the GT-i9000m and update using Kies.

Anyone able to help? I've looked around sam firmware.com, on these forums, searching google, I just can't figure out how to go back to something original.

Help?

Performance improvements, added features, removing unwanted system apps, the ability to theme.... those are just a few I can think of.

It's not against any "rules" to root a handset, or indeed flash an "unpublished firmware". You may lose warranty support, but that's why forums such as this are here - to share knowledge and help fellow users.

@ OP: sorry I can't be of any help but I've enough trouble trying to fathom the i9100 firmwares at present. :(

I just downloaded the Eugene Gingerbread Clone R2 to my phone...the download went fine and i followed through the steps but then my phone shut off and now will only flash the Vibrant Samsung logo. I cant get it to turn back on...ive been messing around with it for about an hour now and still can't get it back up. What do I do?
