Is rear camera still a dissapoitment?

You really can't see a difference in the videos of the fan and the night time video?

I see videos taken from an evo that has a disabled or malfunctioning auto focus...

other than that ..sorry...not seeing anything that tells me that the samsung has a "far superior" cam

quite possibly it's simply a more user friendly cam

Such a fanboy. Cant even accept when certain aspects of a phone are better than yours.

wow...fanboy... seriously... I buy my first HTC android phone and know how to adjust the settings and I'm a fanboy?

If you'd like to discuss the 8 defective samsung phones I've owned we can do that... better yet we can throw in the two defective plasma's ....How about the samsung fridge that has needed $600 in repairs and it isn't even a year old.

I had a samsung microwave once..it worked.

My phone takes awesome video and pics...because I know how to do so...

so no..I'm not going to accept a web blog that says they picked up two phones and did a comparison with who knows what settings and variables....

I use the thing everday...I know it kicks arse

It sounds like you clearly have a biased against Samsung and would render the EVO's camera better regardless of the kind of pictures it takes. I am not talking about the phone as a whole, just the camera.

Again, I am not denying the EVO has an amazing camera. It is the best camera I have had on a phone by far and way better than my P&S. But I am simply stating HTC could have done a better job with the camera. Just because you are a professional cell phone photographer that knows how to change the very few settings it has does not mean it is the more superior camera. Can you please post your side by side pictures you have taken with your phone in comparison to the Epic? Maybe then I will shutup.

If you cant see a difference in those side-by-side unbiased and equivalent comparisons. then yes you are a fanboy.

Lol ill show you mine if you show me yours

I think i recall you having both yes? Returned the epic? Your right...I will never buy another samsung product...you are missing my point....and no not quite sure why, other than your adlescent urge to call someone a name, why this would make me a fanboy. With the proper settings this phone takes great video and photo....im not convinced that they did anything more than pick up the phone and shoot...and at that I give the epic credit...as I did above...for being better at out of the box idiot proof pics...assuming the changed no settings and the evo wasn't defective.

And you are missing my point. Let me state this again since you missed it in my previous posts. I am not saying the EVO has a bad camera, it has an amazing camera.

You state that with the right settings, the EVO camera takes better pictures than the Epic. Can you please provide proof of this?

Somebody already did a side by side, out of the box comparison of each camera, and it is clear as day which one performed better. I would never even consider trading my EVO for an Epic, but I will admit that the Epic has a better camera, screen, and GPU.

I don't need to :D

Owned and used both and still have the EVO.

I used the EVO for some simple work documentation images yesterday and can tell you that it flat out sucks compared to the EPIC rear camera (the rest of the phone I love).

And yes...I know what I'm doing as I'm a professional photographer along with my regular job.

No..I don't expect it to produce what a DSLR or even a good PS produces.

Well there we go... now we have proof. This sucks..... I really bought this phone because of the camera. I guess I'll give it to my 9 yr old and go buy and Epic...better yet...an Iphone4 web blogs and youtube say that phone is better so that must be right.

wait though...that was iphone4 vs evo.... gosh I better look and see what the internet says about iphone4 vs epic... hrmmmmm

seriously I'm not mad just poking fun.. I did however pour coffee all over myself this morning on the drive into work...and somehow managed to avoid being hit by 5 SUVs on the way in....so that was exciting

To adjust the flash on the Evo you can do what photographers for the flash on their slr/dslrs they cover it to diffuse the harshness. a piece of tissue paper or some not totally clear plastic.

True, the Epic has a better camera than the Evo. However, it's not a hardware limitation. If HTC wanted to fix it, they would roll out an update for it.

Ok here is a problem that I have been having. When I take a picture with the flash the damn thing is way too bright and it makes the image look way too white. I thought the reason that there was a dual LED is so that the phone could automatically configure the brightness of the flash required and adjust the LED automatically. Is there any known way of fixing this or am I just out of luck. The camera is great when there is good light involved however when flash is used it is just way too powerful (actually more powerful than my SLR)

Yea there really has to be good light involved to take a real nice picture. So far having the near a month the picture/video quality is just ok using them in different environments.
