I just recently bought this and Im on a contract for 3 years so if I somehow messed up I might "brick" the phone and might end up paying for 3 years for a brick phone thus my hesitation on doing the process

Anyway I just wanna asked the experienced users if there is a way to un-brick the phone

Thanks

EDIT: If you need my phone specs: (just in case)
Model No.: GT-I1900M
Android Version: 2.3.3
Carrier: Virgin Mobile

This risk is low however it does exist. If you follow instructions well you shouldn't have any issues but there are some that don't read the instructions, have no idea what they are doing and manage to brick their phone. Do lots of reading before you do and once you feel you understand what is going on, you shouldn't have issues. Also, buy yourself a JIG just in case. (You can find them on eBay for a few bucks) It can get you out of a bind sometimes.

I have had an experience with Jailbreaking before and Im currently reading some thread about the subject and they seem to be the same (just a bit different in some steps)

but as you said is the use of this "jig" the only way to "un-brick" a phone

It depends, the JIG can't always unbrick your phone, it might need some JTAG help where someone opens the phone and connects to your phone and rewrites portions of the OS. The JIG can help if you have a "Soft Brick" (for a lack of a better term).

So Im currently trying to root my device, does anyone know how "unbrick" it just in case I mess the process up

Just about the only way to properly 'brick' a GS2 is by interrupting the flashing process before completion. So long as you don't pull the USB cable or lose power before Odin gives you the 'green light' it's a quick and painless process.

Just realized that but thanks for the info anyway
