Is the TB really this problematic?

I get that lag sometimes too when typing. For me, it doesn't freeze but just lags badly. I haven't found a solution. It does this when I'm posting here. I just end up tying slowly til it passes.

Me too! It only really lags when I'm typing on this site, so weird. I wonder why ?? I don't get the lag any where else.

Come to think of it, it never lags in emails or messages. I always clear my inboxes. I wonder if clearing the browser cache would work.

My Moto Droid is falling apart (it's literally being held together with duct tape) so I need to use my upgrade now. Visiting the Verizon store, I've narrowed it down to the Thunderbolt or the Incredible 2. I really like the larger screen of the TB, but all of the complaints here have me worried.

Are the problems, like random reboots, really widespread, or are these issues being overblown by a vocal minority?

I'm not very tech-savvy, so I don't think I'll be rooting. So, should I take the risk of the TB or go with the Incredible 2 (which, judging by the forums, have far less complaints?)

Thanks in advance.

My THIRD TB is going back. I can't deal with this anymore- dropped data, random reboots (phone simply shuts down) no GPS lock, sh*tty battery life, major light leakage, etc. Crappy build quality on what could have been an amazing phone for me. (I love Sense UI and their widgets).

I'm new to the thunderbolt. had it less than a week.

I did the OTA update straight out of the box. I had no idea that it was purported to be problematic. I haven't had any reboots.

I have it in a silicone case with a screen protector. Battery life isn't great, but with greenPower and few running apps, it's acceptable to go from Home (charger) to car (charger) to work (charger) and back.

I have a pair of cheapie 1700mah batteries coming from fleabay. I hope they work slightly better than the OEM battery.

I will probably root and flash an Froyo or GB ROM at some point. Still observing in that regard. nice hardware and price, better voice quality thatn AT&T. Better support than Samsung. Other than battery, it's hard to find fault, so far.

Actually this is no longer true as it seem brand new phones are shipping straight from the factory brand new with MR1 already on it. I FINALLY got Verizon to ship me a NEW phone in hopes it wouldn't have it on it, but it did. This was a factory sealed brand new phone in the black TB box. But it does reboot about 1/5 as much as my old one did. I bought my original on launch day, and this brand new one has a build date of 4/24/11 on it.

Same here took 5 cert like new but now I have same issues with new phone along with reboot.

On all of these phones that you've had, are you allowing Google to reinstall the apps you previously downloaded? If so, could one of the apps be the cause of the reboots?

Yeah I have the typing lag issue with this site as well. If I remember correctly, I had this issue with the droid x as well. So maybe it has to do site than the phone? Perhaps it's the amount of flash content being rendered by the brower? I don't know just a thought.

I got mine on 6-12 rooted it the same day and installed MR2. To my knowledge I've had maybe three random reboots. I love this phone.
My friend got one and used it for a week and he hated it. He had 1x at home and random reboots and glitches as he said. I finally rooted his phone and installed MR2. He finally got 3g at home and he said no random reboots or glitches.
I don't know why VZW pulled MR2 because its working great for me.

Off topic, I have lag posting on this site too.

I didn't root and have random reboot issues just about every other day. One day it will work great, no battery issues, no reboot.. then a day later battery is dead at 10 a.m. (after unplugging at 7:30) and the phone is rebooting every five minutes the whole day. I have never had a reboot when I am on a call, or texting though. Generally when it reboots it's annoying because it sucks the battery out but it never stops me from calling someone or interrupts what I am doing.

Get rid of these two problems (battery, and reboot) and some of the lag during texting and typing and this phone would be a 10/10. As is no root I would give it maybe a 6? Hopefully a fix is coming soon to add a few points to that score.
