Is there any android phone that has...

I've got a pristine HTC Desire Z, with a slide-out full QUERTY keyboard, available if interested? :)

There's defo a small but identifiable market for such a device; I had a customer asking for exactly the same thing yesterday. You're not alone in your quest.

I NEVER texted on a T9 keyboard. I absolutely HATED it. I had family members though that could do it blindfolded. I couldn't begin to understand how they did it. Another thing I hated about it was what T9 texting has done for grammar and spelling. Full keyboard texting has made it a LITTLE better but there are far too many people out there who carry over their texting shorthand in to real world and it's sad. That being said, I wasn't saying that to disparage your choice. I know people like what they like and it's just that simple. Finding a Smart Flip Phone is one thing, Finding an American carrier that is willing to carry it or support it is an entirely different story. Verizon has almost entirely done away with Non-Smartphones because they make most of their money off of Data now and they don't see the reason/logic behind a flip phone. You might be able to get one the phones to work on one of the GSM based carriers but it won't be easy. Good luck in your endeavor.

As for what I DO like to use (as if it mattered), I prefer Swype. It's easy to use with one hand and once it learned my common words I became very fluid with it. I wish Swype would port over to laptops so I could use my trackpad instead of my full size keyboard. The funny thing is, Swype was created by Cliff Kushler, the creator of T9. I guess that makes us data entry "kindred" of a sort!

There is an app called Kii, it gives you many different options from T9 to s swype like keyboard.

I renew my search for this sort of thing every few months, and your post here lifted my hopes and then instantly dashed them quite expertly.

If you find anything like this ever again, please don't hesitate to reply again here, and feel free to find my contact info and reach me through other parts of the internet to let me know.

Hi, I own the Ruggear RG310 and can recommend it. But do not get too hyped for it. No gaming on that phone and battery life is average. Also the phone is a bit laggy. For me, it has less than 100 mb free RAM constantly. Also stock Android 4.2.2 sucks ass.

I heard they released an updated version of the phone. It has Android 4.4

considering we're on 8.1 now, and 9 is about to go live soon... thats not much of an update.

Well, the phone has a 1.3Ghz Processor I think dual core?
And the keypad is not the best around. It is akward to use I think. Android is not made for keypads.
Many apps need to use touch input too.
Also there is no switch to switch between Capslock like in Nokia phones.
You make capslock letters my holding the button key long enough (stupidly awkward)
Also there is no key to get the list of symbols like in Nokia phones. You have to use touch keyboard for the remaining symbols (like _ and so on)

I guess I will stick with my Nokia E72 and E90. The Ruggear RG310 is not that pleasing, I think. Yeah RG310 has rear and back cameras, camera flash and a separate flashlight. And real dual sim. But the Android OS is just so laggy with only 512mb ram. For me, when I turn on the phone, I need to wait 30sec before I get the enter pin code screen. In 30 sec,a hacker could easily crack the phone.

The phone has 2.5gb free memory and since it is android 4.2 the memory is separated. You can not install many apps... I can't reload for example whatsapp messages to the phone etc. Now I remembered why Android 4.2 sucked.

I would say, if you want a keypad Android phone. This is about the only option unless you order from Japan where they still make android keypad phones.
If you just want Whatsapp, Gmail and Playstore, Youtube and basic browsing and a 2-3 day batterylife, go for this phone. Just do not install too many apps and so on and you might be happy. Do not expect Nokia-level keypad - I listed the negative sides on my previous messages.

Anyone who wants a 2018 keyboard device and isn't taken by the other one i posted, is probably lusting after the blackberry key2

I guess you haven't heard of Blackberry Key2

There is the ZTE Cymbal T. Big fat ass flip phone with a big numeric keyboard and the three Android Navigation buttons above it. It’s not a spec heavy phone, runs 5.1 Android and has a touch screen keyboard. Also has a nifty outer display that’s nice and bright.

I have one as a novelty. Kind of a goofy phone but it works pretty well for what it is. Using the touch screen isn’t even that bad considering the heavier bottom half of the phone is hanging by your wrist when typing on it. My only complaint about it is the 240X320 resolution display. Kinda gritty for my liking.

I would have used as a daily phone but it’s a CDMA TracFone exclusive handset and doesn’t support my carriers cellular bands.

The problem is that that phone was really, really low spec. The ram and processor would have been low end in 2013, when android 4.2 was current. Selling something like that in 2016 was just a joke.

But honestly if you are worried about being hacked before you can enter the PIN you need to stop reading scare stories. Anyway what difference would entering the PIN make?

Hadron, I see you did not spot I was being sarcastic about the pincode thing.

I have been using Android since Froyo and Gingerbread.

But the RG310 phone itself is ok.
It works, but if you want its full potential.
I guess I would need to root it. And install apps etc. Not going to do that.
