Root Is this bad....? i unrooted....

So being rooted was making me angry because i spent hours for nothing.

So i unrooted using the downgrade method. which i just learned is bad. but for some reason it worked fine on my phone.

Except now, my phones at 2.1 update 1. I hit check for updates and there is nothing, it thinks its up to date.

So i go and try to do a manual update to 2.2 with the 2.2 update.zip from google. Except when i tried to update using it my phone says there is an error in the zip and won't update, even though i got it from google.

Am i screwed?

Can I ask for my information why did you root in the first place? Were you unable to do what you had hoped to do?

i orinially rooted to see what it was like and try roms that weren't stock.

But then i spent 7 hours trying to get set up on a rom with all my previous stuff. I just said screw it and unrooted.

ok. thanks. worked great

So i used the old downgrade method from like July. After i did it i read that someone recently posted it would make your phone unusable, how come it worked on mine?

1. With root, I think people have to realize that patience is key. Many things can take a much longer time and if you are impatient, you wont finish or will ruin what you were trying to do. The biggest problems I see are when people battery pull because they are impatient.

2. It shouldnt take 7 hours but it does take a while. Especially if you use titanium and dont buy the paid version. Free version restores 1 app at a time with clicks for permissions. Paid version does them all in a batch with NO clicks for each app. huge time difference.

3. When you flash a ROM, it is like getting a brand new phone. So, think of how long it took to get your phone the way you like it and realize it will take longer with a flashed rom because there is no manual and more things (if you pick a good one) to do.

4. Your story is a good lesson on why people should really know WHY they are rooting BEFORE they root. I did a ton of research before I went root to make sure I wanted it for good reason. I have found what I wanted and I am very happy. Had I not researched, I probably wouldnt have found root all that important and unrooted.
