Is Tipping Getting Out Of Control?

Actually, its probably more sinister than that. I was reminded that some states allow for a sub-minimum wage for employees that receive tips. So what they are probably doing is "forcing" you to tip so they don't have to pay minimum wage.

If every customer tipped an employee a dollar with each purchase, they would likely fight to have and keep their jobs. I simply don't trust the establishment to hand over that 10 %. They are in the business of screwing over their workforce and if all of that tip money is given to the help I'll be more than surprised. The sad fact is that I don't trust the food industry. I tip the person I feel deserves a tip with cash and I never tip the establishment for that very reason.

I got caught up in the segment of the Steve Allen show from the sixties that had Frank Zappa on playing bicycles as musical instruments that followed your clip. Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention were out there. I saw them in a concert in the early seventies. His show opened with the band sitting behind vintage band stands from the forties. Frank came out dressed in a tux and had a band leader baton. He tapped it a couple of times on his music stand, raised his arms to start the first song, and then all hell broke loose. They rocked the place until everyone was wracked in pain. Crazy guy!

The Darling Bride made extra dinner last night, knowing that I had a medical appointment near where the former tax deduction son works. I dutifully bagged it up this morning with a couple of freezer packs and went to his office to drop it off. I walked in, smiled, handed him the bag and held up my phone: the screen of which displayed an image of the tip options.

He tapped "NO TIP"! I reminded him that studies have shown that people who don't tip their delivery drivers are more likely to have their food delivered cold. Never mind the fact that it was supposed to be cold! Ungrateful little twerp...

:p

When I'm in the self-checkout aisle of the store (because there are NO cashiers working), I ask the associate standing there where the employee breakroom is because I could really use a cup of coffee. When they tell me there is no breakroom, I ask, "if I injure myself checking out my own groceries because I have no option, can I claim workers' comp?"
