Root Issue with /efs partition after rooting

I rooted my Optimus V back in April then in May rooted my daughter's Optimus V, each time using the instructions here:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...-how-simplified-root-recovery-custom-rom.html

My phone has been great ever since but last week my daughter's started getting the dreaded com.android.phone stopped unexpectedly, force close, dialog box and she was unable to make or receive calls (or do much of anything else). I got her phone booted to CWM recovery and ran fix permissions, then wiped the cache and dalvik-cache .

That seemed to clear up the error dialog box however the phone will only make calls and all incoming calls go straight to voicemail. In addition, the Home button does not function, nor does the lockscreen. In searching for solutions, I find that a corrupt /efs partition and a missing /imei/keystr file is generally cited as the cause, however, even with Root Explorer on my working phone I can't seem to find an /efs partition.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution, if there is one, to the problem with her phone?

Flash a custom ROM. A list of ROMS can be found in the all things root guide sticky.
Edit: There are also instructions to flash a new ROM in the atr.

What I also did but didn't mention in my original post is run BacksideUpdater v3.2, download a newer version of BACKside-IHO-VM670-05022012.zip and installed it. I also wiped the cache and the dalvik-cache again after doing that but it didn't fix the problem.

Try the ZV9 update guide in the All Things Root Guide. Read it thru all the way before deciding if you want to try it.

Can someone tell me where on the Optimus V I can find the /efs partition? Like I wrote in my original post, I bought Root Explorer and can't find it on my working rooted phone.

Good choice for a root file explorer. I have the same, and didn't see an efs partition. Don't really know if you would get better results using fastboot commands? If the partition exists there should be a way to see it.
Let me try and see if I can spot it with QtADB. If not, it might not exist on the V. Might be a phone manufacturer thing instead of an android OS thing?

It's doesn't appear to be a ROM thing.

I've heard that it may have different names and locations on different phones. Apparently this partition contains information about the phone such as MAC address. In addition to possibly being the cause of my phone call issue, I've read that the file /efs/imei/keystr must be present and valid or problems with the Main button and screenlock will result. I've searched for information but have found precious little and none really with regard to the Optimus V.

I don't think your going to be able to access that info with Root Explorer. I just checked with the search bar and didn't come up with anything useful. There might be archived a guide on how to unbrick with the S firmware that will have all the info on how to straighten out everything but the imei. Your not going to find much if anything on how to mess with the IMEI as it considered a no discussion topic.

I understand, I just want to get the phone working properly again; I don't want to manipulate any IMEI information, just restore it. I also searched for efs, imei, and keystr using Root Explorer and found nothing on my phone. The lack of information is pretty frustrating and at this point I may just cut my losses and buy her a new phone.

I do appreciate your help!

Let me see if I can dig up the guide I mentioned and see if it might have the info.

I'm sure everyone cares,i know i do because if the same thing happens to my phone i want to know how to fix it!
