Help Issues/comments after installing ICS? Discuss/post here

You are now on a pretty helpful forum - so why don't you at least describe your EVO 3D problems here and see if some of the forum members can help out?
"Nothing works." <-- If that is true (literally), and your phone doesn't even turn on, then take it to Sprint and ask them to fix it or replace it. If the phone turns on, and some features aren't working, then, describe everything (clearly) that isn't working. Hopefully, somebody here can help.

(I read your earlier posts - and what HTC/Sprint told you is partially true - you cannot revert back to gingerbread - well, not without rooting at least. They shouldn't have yelled at you of course)

Edit: Please describe in detail what isn't working. In other words, instead of perhaps saying "camera doesn't work", maybe describe it a little more and say perhaps "stock camera application launches, and crashes immediately" or "stock camera application launches, and pictures taken have a green tint" or "stock camera works, but <other camera app from play store> crashes when launched" etc

That way, other forums users know exactly what the issue is and may be able to help with a workaround.
 
I'm running 2.3.4 right now. I love the native screenshot. Before i allow recent OTA (Sprint) to update - will the latest update retain native screenshot abilities?

Thanks in advance. I did search but i only found info regarding the last update to 2.3.4 which allowed the native SS in the first place.
 
I have been trying to stream http videos since the ics update came out and nothing has worked. I have done everything I can think of. I have updated the adobe flashplayer to 11.1.102.59, I have rooted and s-off to try and downgrade the hboot and then run the update again and that didn't work. I have also tried flashing MikVirgin and MeanRom 2.4 and they have the same problems. Can anyone shed some light on the situation. Oh and I have taken it to sprint twice im about to throw it through the front door lol. I like ICS a lot and would like to keep it. Worse comes to worse I find a new rom with 2.3.

Yes it does, but we highly recommend to avoid issues, if you take the OTA, we would suggest doing a FR afterwards.

Yes, you can still take screenshots after the ICS update. Same as before - Power + Home buttons.
 
Hi,

I got the request to upgrade Android to 4.0.3 and went ahead. Since I've installed it has just driven me crazy. Signal bars go low randomly. It's never dropped a call but my internet drops out every 5mins! It's out for about 2mins+. The phone is trying to connect but does not receive a return signal. Just typing this I risk it not going through.
This clearly only happened with the Android upgrade.

- Is there a fix?

- Can I go back to Android 2.# (factory version)? I can' remember what it was but at least it worked fine

I havn't had the data problems like you have had. But I have had my phone tell me services was busy when I would call someone, it happens at least once a day. ANd my text messages are now getting errors at some point. I usually reset the phone and it seems to be a short term fix. Have you tried a battery pull?
 
Wasn't it always black. I'm looking at it now (if we are talking about the same thing) and its black on Gingerbread.

Once you take the ICS update there is no going back, unless you root and flash a GB Rom

I believe I had the same or something similar happening on my device. If you can get access to your device password (also known as MSL code) then the following steps should fix the problem.

On the keypad, press ##72786# followed by the msl code (obtainable from a Sprint rep, let them know that you want to reset your network data connection) - tap menu, then reset. This is not a "full reset" of the device. What it does, is take the device off and back on the Sprint network (refreshing the system).

Ok I tried giving it some time but I am not happy with this update at all. Phone runs slower, battery life has gotten worse and too many little bugs that annoy me every time I try to do something.

And I want my Android smilies back, the new ones suck.

I get 'connection problem or invalid MMI code'

anyone seen this on evo 3D? thanks
 
are you rooted?

do you have a 3rd party dialer installed?

sprint version or international version?

are you the only owner?

did you buy it brand new or second hand?

these questions do matter...

Hello,
After the update we had around 01/12 on GB the DIAG(3424) changed.

You now have to use *#*#3424#*#*

I tried this on EVO 3D on ICS and it works and looks like more items have been added.

That works! Yes it appears the ICS update we had has changed the MMI codes. So much to learn with these things!

I agree with this exactly! There is nothing good about this update. Even the little notification icons at the top of the screen are just plain black and white now. My stock alarm doesnt even make any sound when it goes off either. Only the vibrate alarm works, and this made me late for work. Internet browsing is slower than ever. My Dragon on Swype no longer works. Sometimes when I copy and paste something, it pastes twice. Alot of my apps dont work like they use to either. It's clear the ICS is not made for the Evo 3d. Now all I can do is patiently wait 8 months for my upgrade. My phone has gone from amazing, to a piece of junk.

do hyperlinks in emails work for you? that's another thing that irks the crap out of me. And does anyone have an idea how to get flex t9 to start working again? If I press and hold in a text box it doesn't give me the "input method" option. If i go through in the settings flex t9 is checked but I'm just stuck with regular swype.. :confused:
 
Since updating to ICS my internet Homepage has been set to the insidious Facebook and no matter what I do in "Settings" it will not change. Used to always have Google as my Home page as I usually open it up to search something, now it opens to FB and I have to hit the Settings key to pop up the menu and hit Home at the top which THEN takes me to Google - extra steps that kinda irk the s**t outta me since it is being forced on me. Any body else have this and know a way around it?

Are you using the stock browser? It always keeps a history of windows that have been open. If it was set to have Facebook as the home page, no matter how many times you open and close it, or hit Back in the window. It will remember that as the very first time that window was open to a site, and send you back to it.

Easiest way is to go into browser settings, set your home page to Google or whatever you want. Open a new window (this will open your new default home page), close the original window that was open, so now Google will be the only window open, and then use the Back button to exit the browser. This should fix the problem you're having...always worked for me.
 
So I recently upgraded to 4.0 with Sprint and I love it for the most part.
One annoying issue I have now is that any link I open opens in the browser, and not in the app.

For example, I would click on a google map link (http://m. something... ) and the browser would open map with the map. In the past, I menue would pop up and ask me if I want to open this link from Google Maps and even had the option to mark it as default so all links for google map would open with the app. I don't have this option anymore.

I now have to watch YouTube clips from the browser, google maps, dropbox locations.. really annoying especially if it promotes me to enter a password to enter into my account.

Anyone else has this issue? What should I do?

Already tried to reseat to default from on the default browser, didn't work. Also installed chrome, same issue. :confused:

What I've figured out is... if you take the update _ you should perform a reset of the device. If that doesn't fix any problems that you are having, then sadly to say...nothing else will.

Contacting Sprint or HTC about a problem / issue will only get you to perform another reset of the device.

I only see three options here: 1) Wait on a possible maintenance update. 2) Root the device and find a possible way of downgrading to a recent version of Android (one that works out great for you). 3. Get a different phone.
 
Need help.. recently switched to ics(ice cream sandwich operating system) and am missing music. Some of the music I can see in the downloads ah widget I guess its called but when I click on it I can only listen the song on the preview screen. When.I.open the music player a lot is missing , about half of my previous library or more. Any ideas where it went /how to play it back in the original music player? Phone is a HTC EVO 3d .. sprint if it helps.
