Hello,
I'm new to this forum. In the past I've had the Moto Droid, HTC Incredible and the Droid Bionic. All which were with Verizon. I rooted the Incredible and have done other stuff with them and have decent experience with Droids.
I decided that I didn't need to pay to have a droid phone anymore and got a basic prepaid phone. Eventually I got sick of not having a droid and my friend convinced me to try Revol Wireless. He switched to them from Verizon and gets unlimited Text/Talk/Data for 50 per month. And they have 3g all around my area. He also said he would give me his HTC Eris he isn't using and I could flash it to Revol. So I went for it.
Well I'm having a few issues with the phone. It works and all, but parts of it kind of don't work well. It seems it's a phone that doesn't take well to a Revol flash. I can receive pic messages, but can't send them. Also, many apps don't work if they are more than about 10mb large. It's also very slow and buggy in general (a lot of force closes, SMS errors etc).
I decided that perhaps rooting the phone to gingerbread would help out. I gave this a try. I had success all the way up to the very end, and the new OS didn't want to install. I decided I would restore the phone, then try it all over again. Well once I restored it, it stopped working. It seemed to undo the revol flash. And when I tried making a phone call, it would give me a generic Verizon error message. It seemed to be connecting back to Verizon, rather than Revol.
So my questions are, is it possible to root a phone that was flashed from Verizon to Revol? And if not, does anyone have advice for the issues I'm having with the phone? I searched all over for this specific issue, but couldn't find info anywhere. So any advice is GREATLY appreciated!
I'm considering spending the money to just go back to a big carrier and buy a brand new phone. I'm just in a position where I'd much rather not spend that kind of money.
Thanks everyone and sorry for the lengthy post.
