Root Issues with Gingerbread (595)

Hello everyone! I've been running into some problems with my phone of late. First, I'm running the .595 version of Gingerbread (rooted). I've been having a LOT of issues with the keyboard (both with Gmail and Text Messaging). A lot of times, the space bar is causing the keyboard to close and letters that I type don't show up in the text box. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Should I just go ahead and start from scratch with the rooted OTA .596? I don't care which way to go, I just need my phone to perform better than this.

Also, my wife has a Droid X but she has kept hers stock. She recently pulled down the OTA and she's really having issues with battery life. I figured an app might be causing it but I wasn't sure. I figured this group was where I could find the answers. As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Settings>Applications>Manage applications select the "All" tab and select "Android Keyboard" or "Swype" (whatever keyboard you are using) and push the "Clear cache" button.

No listing for Android Keyboard.

There should be, are you using a different keyboard and not have Android Keyboard installed?

All I had was Multi-Touch Keyboard in that list and there was no cache associated with it. I ended up installing SwiftKey X for the time being until I have time to flash an update.

Thanks so much for the help guys. Hopefully I can get something else running soon. Do you guys run GB or another ROM? I might be ready to try something different altogether.

And sorry for the brevity of my posts. It was near impossible getting those short messages typed in with the keyboard acting so wonky.

VS and myself are currently running OMFGB, you might want to give that a look. There is also CM7, MIUI, or SSX 2.0 (2.1 soon hopefully) you can check out.

Is MIUI the one that looks like iPhone? If so, no thanks. Anything I should know about OMFGB? I'd like to switch it up a bit. It's time. And thanks for the info. Very helpful as usual.

To me it does, even though people say you can change the theme, etc., it still does to me ;)

I've only been running OMFGB for a couple of days, but it's been working really well for me so far.

I don't know if you use the HDMI out and 720p video recording a lot, but HDMI and 720p recording don't work on any of these Roms, they only works on the .596 Roms.

I don't use the HDMI out but. I've thought about it (for the Holidays Go app). Video Camera I don't use all that often either. That's why I have a Sony HD Handycam.

I might try to get it working tonight. With the keyboard issues I was having and the data constantly going in and out it's time for a switch.

Would you mind posting some screenshots or point me in a direction where I can see what this ROM looks like? Thanks!

Just go to the OMFGB thread, you'll get a lot of info there.

it only works on .596 roms because that blur isnt removed, and from what i can gather cant be removed or the camera and camcorder wont work.. which is strange

miui is a very nice stable rom, its fast and snappy. it does look like the iphone no matter what kind of theme or launcher you put on it, because the menus are that of the iphone.

omfgb is great to have, its fast, and stable, only mms fix is needed if you experience the issue, and you cannot send mms whilst on wifi. not many people are on wifi when they send pics anyway unless your at home, but it is a bug in it, camera works great, but you cannot use the camera button to snap a picture :(

you can use the camera button to open the camera but thats it.

I was able to send an mms while on wifi with OMFGB, but it sent in black and white instead if color, but after that I couldn't send another.

it happened to me once, i received one pic, but couldnt send any, and couldnt receive after that either, it might be something in the build but will be fixed soon
