Indeed, but can still come in handy. Battery life on phones isn't at a respectable level that watching a long video doesn't fry it, but they are getting better. Small screens don't make it any nicer. USB OTG + nexus 7 = awesome though.

The thing with the N7 though is, wife steals it to play angry birds, kids need to play sonic, and I'm left with my phone. So I keep some games on my phone.
And I drive out of town a lot. Storing music on the cloud or whatever just isn't going to cut it when I'm driving through the boon docks. And who offers truly unlimited data these days? Edit: and gets service everywhere? Without that you need a phone with storage options.

Yeah, but on TV those terms aren't there. It simply says it's unlimited talk, text and data.
To me, that's false advertisement and if someone brought up a lawsuit for that I'd follow because they are falsely advertising their service by saying you get unlimited when you don't.
Even the terms don't say it's not unlimited which is even worse for them.

They do put some fine print up at the end of their commercials, but I've never bothered to pause the tv and actually read it. I have no idea what it says, but I'm willing to bet it discloses some of the hidden conditions.
that will be fine, still will be a much better deal than the shared data plans

I like the fact that you get the hotspot with the shared plans, and I now don't have to worry about having my data throttled anymore. I actually like the shared plans better for those reasons.

Coming from Sprint and an unlimited data plan for the last two years, I'm chipper with VZW. At least the freakin towers work...

But straight talk $50 after tax and page plus $55 dollar plans are better. Also page plus uses Verizon nertwork. Besides I only see a few mid level phones officially offered. I'm almost certain they'll make it difficult to use high end androids or any iPhones on their prepaid plans.

Seven devices on verizon for $320 total. Thats under $50ea on a carrier I can have a conversation without constantly saying "what did you say?" Premium phones not 3 year old models. None of our phones have a battery bigger than the data plan. We have wifi where the charger is. Normal use for our phones is under 500mb ea. I thought I would miss unlimited data but between the new plans and being able to combine two accounts, our bill is almost half. Up to ten devices on a plan or even more on business plans which cost the same.

I think the share everything plans are a great deal for someone like you with multiple devices. It seems that you need 3 or more to save money. Where the problem comes in are for the single users who just have a smart phone. Verizon is lacking a good option for individual users - especially ones who don't use a lot of voice minutes.
It's those individual users who are paying > $100/month for unlimited voice/text (that they probably don't even want) + 2-4 GB data that are finding these pre-pay plans very attractive. I can't blame them.

Actually the Verizon Prepaid unlimited talk text and 2gig is $70/mo and there's a $60 plan too.
Set Your Location You don't get the phone you want so single users still get hosed, as you say.
The least costly VZW plan is about $8/mo if you prepay $100 for a year on a basic phone. If you are over 65 they've got some good plans. (Ah legal age discrimination)

Seems like PagePlus is the way to go for single phone customers, $55mo. for unlimited text, talk, and web and NO CONTRACT. Having been burnt twice in the past on ETF, I'll NEVER AGAIN sign another cell phone contract....EVER. Supposedly Verizon (and soon after PagePlus) will be rolling out 4g coverage to their prepaid customers in the next 6 mos or so.
