i've realized

The droid x has absolutely made me a blackberry hater. As some of you may know from my previous posts i came from a blackberry tour.

To list a few things i realize now makes me mad about my previous phone.

The app world for bb is so little compared to the android app market. And so more useful apps are out for android

If you think droids are outdated real fast my tour was outdated by a newly released curve a month after i bought it and the bold a month after that(on verizon alone)

Reboots... going on a month now with droid x and zero necessary reboots. Blackberry had at least two a day sometimes up to five.

The browser... couldn't access my verizon via the browser on my bb would literally crash everytime. Droid x no problem.

And to top it all off little to no customization offered on screen. Rediculously priced themes and most of them would make the tour crash.

Has anyone else coming from a blackberry experienced any of the hatred im going through with rim?

I hope this helps anyone stumbling upon the site thinking of switching from a blackberry.

Oh yeah! I'm in the same boat. Came from Bold 9000. That thing was so low on memory that I could only have a few apps installed. And I had to restart it every few days because of memory leaks.

And app prices? Don't even get me started on that.

Oh and you guys think we have it bad with waiting on Froyo? Haha! I don't think AT&T ever released OS 5 for my phone even though OS 6 just came out. I had to load leaked builds.

I'll admit typing on it was a blast and corporate email integration is great. But other than that... Meh... I can't say I hate it, but I think they are really subpar phones right now. They are good for work and that's about it. I tell everyone now to stay away from BBs if they want a multimedia phone.

I'm in the same boat. I was a die hard BB user. The BB does have a great use as an email and messaging device. I might still encourage someone who just wants a device for work to keep in contact with the office to use one, but I couldn't suggest it for anything else.

The droid phones seem to be so much better than anything else I've ever used, the updates are worthwhile and don't cause more problems than they solved. I've never had to do a battery pull on the droid X. I don't even have to try out multiple OS hybrid builds to try to get rid of a chirp every 10 seconds during a phone call. Browsing is fast, gps actually works, app updates are frequent and improve the apps. I think I've even got over my disdain of touch screen phones with swype.
At this point I'm regretful that I talked one of my buddies into getting a bb last year that he hates because it is so sub par.

I'm really curious as to see what 6.0 is like on Blackberry. It looks a lot better and more streamlined.

i had a wackberry storm 2 for about a year & i got an incredible that i had about a month before i got the x.

the storm 2 was a ridiculous fail. i hated that phone the majority of the time i had it. the browser was so freakin slow it would literally take 6min & 20 sec for ign.ps3.com to load& even when it was all done it was super choppy. the x does it in less than a min ha night and day difference.

the app world would only open sometimes for me other times it would freeze my phone. the only app i really enjoyed was pandora radio. it did OKAY on the storm 2 & is flawless on the x.

i do miss the email just a lil bit but the x more than makes up for it.

i really love my droid x it's a superior device compared to any other phone i've ever owned including the incredible. the HD video capture really impresses me the most. i love the fact i have hdmi out as well as dlna support. this device is top notch & i honestly believe no wackberry will ever be able to touch the pure intelligence of the droid x. i feel bad for people still using rim devices as for me i'm X all the way & never looking back (:

I have to agree with you guys. I also came from a Tour on Verizon and man the Android platform is leaps and bounds ahead of any Blackberry OS. I am so happy that Verizon allowed me to upgrade early. I love my DX.

Everyone I know have had the same problems you listed...I wouldnt say the reboots were everyday but atleast once a week....You basically get use to it and then when you actually get a great phone you realize how much the BB suck. I never really cared for BB and now having the Droid and now the Droid X I would never go back.

I did the same thing too! (Tour -> DX)

I played around with BB OS 6 on a co-worker's BB Torch and man, not much to really brag about. The only thing I will miss is BBM, but now that I have unlimited text and swype I will never look bad. lol

Heh, I had a 8330 Curve. Browsing was sloooow.Only thing I have about the Droid X is that without ATK..good lord. I'm not sure how itd act.

What I do like about the Blackberry is the look of their OS. I love the low profile clear outline with top lighting look of the icons. Hmm, wonder if anyone's built a Blackberry-look ROM for the Android?

Came from a Tour as well man, I feel you. I thought I would have to get used to a touch screen keyboard, but even that's not a problem for me. I can type as fast as my BB on the landscape keyboard due to the screen size with very little errors. It's awesome. I even like the email better in Android honestly. Everything is just so snappy it's a great experience. The only thing I sorta miss is sound profiles, but I haven't looked into any apps for Android if possible.

I'll never go back to BB. I agree with all of your statements.

Yeah! Tour to X. I would have taken a sledgehammer to my Tour if I couldn't get a trade in value from Nextworth. POS! Whenever someone whines about not having Froyo yet I just roll my eyes. I'd love to hand them a BB for a day so they remember/realize what they actually have in their X.

I was hoping to find out myself. Then I found out that my 8 month old BB Storm2 would not be getting OS6. Pitty because OS6 held out a lot of promise and some great improvements. It seemed that RIM was getting its head out of its 4th point of contact.

For nearly all that I needed my Storm2 was getting the job done, but nothing spectacular. I didnt have problem with reboots or anything of the like. But like I said, it was plain jane vanilla. If I have to live with the bloody thing attached to my hip for 18 hours a day, I'd rather it be more than just boring.

After getting the shaft on what was supposed to be RIMs flagship touch screen, I couldn't take it any more. Yes I love push for all of my email domains, BBM, and USB sync and I will miss them the most. But that will probably be it when all is said and done. I want the ability to not have email attachment restrictions. I want a browser that actually works and doesn't take a coons age to do anything.
