Root I've successfully unlocked my bootlock, now what?

well I unzipped the superoneclick to my desktop, plugged in my phone and ran the .exe

It ran, but threw up a few failures along the way. I found psneuter and zergRush expliot options but no zegpush

The plot thickens.....

I think it might have actually worked! I now have superuser on my phoe but when i try and open it I get an error message saying "the application superuser (process com.noshufoy.android.su) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try again" and all I can do is force close. What now?

Also Titanium Backup is telling me my device is not rooted

I think the binary part didn't install.

...... odd, after unlocking your bootloader it should say unlocked, you sure you did the HTCdev procedure correct.

you can try the fastboot command

fastboot oem unlock

then try to flash the recovery.

Hmmm... I unlocked using htcdev and as far as I'm aware it worked. Is there any way to know for sure, and if it's actually still locked could that be why we've both been mystified all this time?

Most likely.....

I'm not sure how else to check.

Try the commands in the last post, not sure if they will work though.

Sure enough, didn't work!

Thinking about it the Desire S isn't on the compatable list at htcdev, so even though I followed their instructions that could be why it didn't work.

If that's the case and my bootloader is still, as is apparant, locked then I'm keeping it that way and not messing with it anymore. I've learned my lesson, rooting is not for a noob like me.

I've been using Go launcher/beautiful widgets etc to freshen up the look of my phone anyway, so I'm unlikely to get bored with it in the near future.

Thanks ever so much for the support and advice you've given me over the last few weeks, you really opened my eyes to how complex modern phones can be.
