Help Jelly Bean discussion/issues thread (released Dec. 13)

I changed a setting somewhere and hooked my phone up to my computer and accessed my sd card. I read about it here. Now my battery has been draining less and when I get to work every day I turn off mobile data connect to my works wifi and leave my phone in my pocket. My signal sucks there but I changed my FB setting to 4 hours it was on 1 and I just turned off Google Now so I will test it tomorrow. What does turning off Google Now do exactally? It said my cards will be gone but it still lets me ask a question or say dial so and so or text so and through google voice so I'll just leave mine off. I don't care about the cards that popup.

Yes, Google voice searches will still work.

Google now is the location based cards

Has screen on time disappeared from the battery stats menu? Sorry, I searched and couldn't see anything.

I'm looking to clarify something for a One X users (unbranded handsets are receiving the equivalent update at the moment too).

I notice when I access my phonebook (contacts), most times only the first 100 contacts are available . It takes the phone another 3 minutes before it processes and displays the remaining 600 or so. Usually, it's just names and numbers at first and then photos show up (from facebook or Google+)

Yes, HTC got rid of the display in the battery stats. Or its buried in a menu so deep I can't find it.
I just use an app to pull it up

Probably related to google now. Go through the settings and uncheck what you don't want.

There's a few apps you can use like betterbatterystats or gsam battery monitor to help you narrow down what it is

Looking and I don't see a "Google Now", what is it labeled? Only got 10 hours yesterday and I was in the red. Before I was getting over a day.

If you go to settings>power>history, you can see your screen on time in a bar graph, although it doesn't give percentages.

Yeah, but I know I'm interested in the actual time numbers in hours/minutes.

That's how I measure battery life

Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed that HTC gave me the stock response, "Wipe your chache," as the "fix" to the proximity sensor and issues with Swype while entering text in text fields on websites. I could have gotten that stock response from a clueless Sprint CSR. I tried HTC because I thought they might be give a more informed response.

I did email them and told them that I had done a factory reset and I wiped the chache as they suggested and that I still have all the same issues. Gee, that was a big surprise...

Anyway, I suggested that they bring these issues to their developers so that they can look at the code to fix it and to send us an OTA update to fix these issues.

I haven't gotten a response to that yet.

Alright guys I need help big time. I got the update on the 13th when it first started and ever since then my touch screen won't work. And no I don't mean it's not as responsive and I'm not talking about the proximity sensor.

The touch screen will work fine for a while and then all the sudden, BOOM, it will stop recognizing any touch whatsoever and will not function. If I do a simulated battery pull (hold power for 10 seconds) it will restart and work again for a while but stop eventually.

And I have done multiple factory resets. Any ideas? It's killin me guys that my awesome phone is a useless hunk.

has any one noticed the vibration difference after the upgrade? like pushing the back button, home button etc...

What you're talking about is haptic feedback and the revolutions of the vibrating motor are MUCH less. I actually like it. Just a real quick barely there vibrate so you know you hit the key yet not so much that it keeps going. Just know that the less the battery needs to spin that motor the less battery it uses. Those little motors use a surprising amount of juice too since you're actually turning a mechanical motor.

I have found how to access the google voice recognition with the new jellybean design hurdle, but am just curious, why would The designers choose to remove this shortcut and make it more difficult to access with Swype. It is clearly on the sense keyboard as a shortcut.

Is there a way to make a shortcut on the Swype keyboard for it? I would LOVE to replace the useless English/Spanish toggle key.

Same issue here. Microphone comes and goes and is missing from Swype. I look forward to any answers. :(

Download the latest version from the Foxfi site. Running fine on my recently updated Evo LTE with JB.

Are you sure it's working and that you have JB? I downloaded the latest version from the foxfi website and ever time I try using it, it turns on the phones hot spot feature as well as foxfi and only the phone's hotspot is found, but neither one works. Did you do anything to it that might have caused it to work for you? Thanks in advance.

I was reading that possibility ( my otter box ) I've got on my phone may be the reason my phone goes blank when answering calls. It going black is not acceptable at all. If it's not the otter box, how do I check the proximity sensor ? I've been all through the setting and I can't find a proximity setting anywhere. I'm obviously not doing something right....please be detailed in your answer.

Anyone having your browser go blank in the middle of searching also

Just a lot of headaches with this so called "update" enough complaints from people to think something doesn't jive here ! !

I don't have a case on my phone and still have sensor issues. It's a software bug, not a case bug.
