Jelly Bean on Boost Force

Just go to the phones page. They have a bunch of phones listed as 4.1 That are actually 4.0.

Honestly. This phone sucks anyway. There is more to a computer than just cpu speed. If the device cannot move data to and from the cpu fast enough the cpu speed won't even help. This phone stock is slow crap. Type a letter then wait... hit home or back and wait... mic is defective... speaker circuitry sucks... i still say there is something screwy with the hard button locations... and ya know what else having a " ' " on the number page rather than a " . " is just stupidity.

Think I'm gonna get the lg phone. Not much more and you get lgs quality. Has rave reviews and isn't much more

Just my not so humble opinion

I considered that LG Venice when I was looking for a replacement for my old prevail. Ultimately, I chose the Force because of its processor and LTE. I was sick of the ridiculously slow 3G. That's a serious problem when you're on the go and need to search something up. Good luck with that 1 GHz, single core processor and 3G speeds on Sprint's network.

Btw. Vergin mobile is to Verizon that boost is to sprint. A little more. But not rape me in the ear cost like Verizon and sprint. You get capped after a couple gigs like Verizon. But better customer service. I'm just a cheap bastard.

I'm not sure exactly you are trying to say here. Are you saying Virgin Mobile is a subsidiary of Verizon? It's not. Virgin Mobile is a subsidiary of Sprint, just like Boost Mobile; and they both operate on Sprint's network.

You know virgin is sprints premium prepaid service, right? This phone also really isn't that bad, most of the reason this phone is sluggish is because of poor programming, not the hardware. And you do understand the number thing is the way the default android keyboard is set up? Not all keyboards are the same. Go take your not so humble opinion else where.

I stand corrected on the ownership of Vergin mobile.

At the moment stock is the only software available. And to most everyone is the only software that will ever be available. So for everyone it will be sluggish.

Yes i know the keyboard can be changed. I'm just saying the programmers who made it did not think that one through.

And why do my missed calls tally up? Iv seen this before on ics

as far as i knew virgin was the leftovers and boost was the more high profile sprint subsidiary but i could be wrong, and also on me being wrong, im not wrong... i helped make the upgrade to 4.1 myself, so i know for a fact it can be upgraded. not through the menu no, but my friend mouse is running 4.1 right now doing tests for me. mind you a carrier advertising unfinished unofficial upgrades would be out of the ordinary to say the least but technically they could play that card and get away with it had they said it was merely upgradeable and not that it came with 4.1
hell we even have a version of 4.2 up and running, but its buggier than 4.1

and for reference the hardware isnt all that bad, its the software that causes the biggest bottle neck. zte is notorious for having horrible coding and when/if they upgrade it will work sooo much better. or if you are willing to wait for cm to get finished, granted it ever does, this phone could be a beast

Actually boost was nextels prepaid and virgin was sprints before they merged, and now virgin is supposed to be sprints premium prepaid with better phones and supposedly better tech support.

they might have better tech support but they have the crappier plans and crappier phones from what ive seen, they get phones like galaxies after us if im not mistaken. ever since boost switched from iden(nextel network) to cdma(sprint network) theyve blown up

Vergin limits your monthly data. And costs more. Boost seems the smart choice to me if you can tolerate sprint. The service between sprint and boost seems the same to me save no roaming.

As far as the law goes. What a handful of people here do would not be considered. Its advertising coming with 4.1 Show a judge the phone and its version number. Then show him that it says you have the latest version. Then show zte advertising no more than 4.0 is obvious it only has 4.0. And for boost to try to argue that you can hack the phone, program and compile a new os yourself so it counts is just perposterous. The fact is, they advertise 4.1. From boost, not a 3rd part website they would shut down if they could. If company xxx advertises xyz... xxx must by law provide xyz by law. Why such a big company is doing something so stupid i do not know. Probably because 95 percent of the people do not even know what it even means.

There are more reasons I'm returning it than being slow anyway. As mentioned the mic makes popping notes. It pushes buttons without me. Programs don't work on it. It doesn't even have a dock available.

Yes i know you are in process of hacking the phone. But that does not matter in court. The fact is boost is selling a phone under false advertising.

Companies do this all the time. They won't be the first nor the last to do so.

Good luck getting this through the clogged Judicial system. Even if you could win such a case against a corporation that last year alone brought in $35.3 billion in revenue, the end result would be the feature gets reverted to 4.0 and possibly offer a refund to all those involved in the case. You just spent years going through the court system, appeals, run arounds, and thousands of dollars on attorney costs. Is the refund worth it?

Gratification maybe. chuckles. :D

This is so clear as day that you wouldnt need a lawyer. to be honest. most criminal cases you arnt even allowed a lawyer. same with a lot of lower than 2500 civil cases i think. in either case. it would stop the false advertising.

maybe ill write a letter to the ceo. never sent the one i wrote up for uncle eds.

don't ever go there. the peopel there don't know squat. they had to call a mechanic to remove the drain bolt. not kidding. tried to let me leave with less than the amount of oil i was supposed to have.

And so finally boost gave a decent answer admitting that Jelly Bean it is available... Just not yet.

This time I've been told to try almost on daily basis first of all to perform the firmware update, if a firmware update occur then the next step is to perform a boost force software update.

Just a note, before performing the firmware update we need to have a backup of all our data because after that the phone will wipe everything.

Now, question is: true or false and furthermore... When all this will happen?

Who will survive will know... Unless upgraded to another carrier and phone :banghead:

Ahah true that...

By the way, funny part: that same answer I got it when I asked for the Warp Sequent, then I gave up, bought the force, activated the sequent for my wife... And now she enjoy jelly bean and I am stuck with ICS!

After a long conversation with a boost rep, who actually is in the US and understands English, lol, 4.1 is supposed to be preloaded on the device if you buy it from the website. I was told the issue has been escalated to the suits and if I don't get an OTA within 48 hours I should call back. If and when I get the update I'll post the raw OTA zip along with a nandroid backup. Cross your fingers!

I confirm what said, I got the same phone call with tons of apologies and that in 48//72 hours we should get Jelly Bean and they discouraged on buying another device as it will be useless and underlining that the ZTE Force with Jelly Bean will be almost comparable to a Samsung S2 or S3 except for camera and display. Plus seems that there are plans not yet confirmed or authorized to bring Google Wallet into the Force with a separate firmware upgrade.

I got my wife the hydra. she likes it. tons faster than the force with stock software. 4.1.2 stock

i went back to my evo. (her evo now mine) faster than both with 4.2.x

My fingers are crossed.lol.

You guys can try forcing the OTA update. Go to settings, manage apps, all, google services framework force stop and clear data. Then go to system updates, boost force software and you should see it say last checked xx/xx/1969 and click check now. You may have to do it multiple times. I've been reading a bunch of people saying it worked for them on other devices. Its worth a shot. Also I read sometimes you have to be on Wi-Fi for it to work but idk if that's true or not.

Don't necessarily have to be on wifi, I've updated other devices with 3g before. Wifi is just recommended because of the large file size.

Tried this several times and still no update yet.

Yea I've been trying all day too lol. Hopefully somebody will get the update. Also it said it will only work if there is an actual OTA out for the phone, which i don't think there is one so yea.
