Help Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide

Ugh. Still none for Philippines. :(

Correct!

____________

i downloaded my firmware from a link in youtube that has a baseband version of XXLS8. i hope you guys can help me

Hello and welcome to Android Forums tchiin0821! :)

I would recommend checking your APN settings in the first instance, particularly if you have flashed a firmware for a different CSC code. You could also try flashing another JB firmware, using the instructions in #1.7.

I can not find a way to update to any version of jellybean with my samsunggalaxy s2 gt-i9100p without loosing the nfc. i have found multiple ways
but always loosing the nfc capabilities. i have a spanish phone, firmware XEC which is on your list, but will not work. any advice. i have found all these nfc enablers and things related to where i update and then enable the nfc, but not a single one has confirmed that it works 100 %

Hello and welcome to Android Forums froelibt! :)

I am afraid that until a JB firmware is released for your model of phone, that there is no sure fire way of retaining NFC.

It's for Nordic Countries again.

There's been a couple of releases for the GT-i9100 model...

OXX = NORDIC COUNTRIES (This is the 3rd JB update for this CSC code)

OXF = BALTIC (This is the 2nd JB update for this CSC code)

See #1.9

I dont understand if i can upgrade my phone to JB 4.1.2 im locked to o2 network

Hello,

I have a UK Vodafone branded handset which is unlocked, I was expecting to find a VOD CSC code but instead have a XEU code. Just out of interest could anyone explain?
I take it the XEU update is not yet released?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Big Fella! :)

If your CSC code is XEU, then that is unbranded, UK, firmware you are running. It would be unusual to receive a phone direct from Vodafone running this CSC code and firmware... but not impossible. The Vodafone, UK, CSC code is VOD and this contains the carriers, "bloatware", in the form of boot-up logos and app's, which XEU does not.

However, if you got this from a third party vendor on a Vodafone contract then it is highly possible.

Keep checking post #2 for the XEU release.

More CSC codes have been updated with Jelly Bean for model number GT-i9100...

JDI = JAMAICA

UWE = GUATEMALA

ODD = INDIA

CNX = ROMANIA

IUS = MEXICO

SIM = SLOVENIA

OXF = SERBIA
(VIP, Telenor, Telekom)

SWC = SWITZERLAND (Swisscom)

MOB = AUSTRIA (A1)

VGR = GREECE (Vodafone)

For more details and information on CSC codes and JB releases, see posts #1, #2 and #3.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Adrian_d! :)

As per post #2, CSC code OXX is a multiple, "open", code covering 17 different locations. So far only 1, Nordic Countries, has been released.

Hi, I have a question.

PDA : I9100XWLP7
PHONE : I9100XXLPS
CSC : I9100OXXLPH

According to my version details, my CSC is OXX. If OXX is a 'multiple' code covering many regions, which OXX firmware(which country) should i install? I saw there are several JB updates available for OXX CSC at the moment. How can I identify the correct firmware I should install?

Also Kies shows - PDA:LP7/PHONE:LPS/CSC:LPH (XEH). Whats the correct CSC?

Judging from the above, your phone was originally on CSC code XEH for Hungary and has been flashed with OXX firmware at some stage. See, #1.5 and #1.6.

Some 11 weeks after the first official release of Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2, for the Samsung Galaxy SII, International, GT-i9100 phone there is now the first official release from Samsung for the NFC, (Near Field Communication), variant, the GT-i9100P.

The first CSC code to receive JB is...

TIM = ITALY (TIM)

which is receiving the XXLSK firmware.

As this article from The International Business Times explains, "The latest XXLSK official Jelly Bean firmware is being pushed out in phases and hence it could take some time to be available globally."

For an explanation of CSC codes, firmware releases, eligibility, etc; for the Jelly Bean releases... see posts #1, #2 and #3.

It also makes an ambiguous reference to Orange UK, "P", variants in the write-up but I have no confirmation or details of this official release yet. Keep an eye on this thread.

Update See, also, android geeks news release.

hey guys,
please tell me which is the latest and best firmware version of JB right now. i saw in samfirmware, few 4.1.2 releases in march. dont know exactly which one among them is better, as i am on some older 4.1.2 now. XWLSD XXLS8 i think. and the battery seems to be getting worse even after a factory reset and stuff.
please advise.

thanks. according to it, XWLSN seems to be latest JB release as of now. that means, i could flash any one among the latest releases for baltic or nordic countries, from sammobile site? both these are essentially the exact same rite.

Hi all, first time posting on this forum.

PDA: i9100PBVLPE
PHONE: i9100PBVLPB
CSC: i9100PORALPE

My SII was originally a branded Orange phone. I received an unlock code when we switched to Vodafone and everything was hunky dory.

I've seen that the "P" variant is available I9100PTIMLSK.

My question is, if I use your dummies guide Ironass, can I flash this?

And what have I got to loose?

cheers

See #3.4. You need the, "All Things Root", section of the forum.

EDIT You have posted there as well... and I have replied. See, here.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums overlook! :)

Whilst it is true that there has been a Jelly Bean release for the, "P", variant, this firmware is, as you mentioned, I9100PTIMLSK which is the Tim network operator branded firmware for Italy. See post #2. Whilst you could flash this firmware using the instructions in #1.7 as it has an English language pack, I do not know how much operator branding in the form of logos, app's and bloatware would be included with it.

Currently, this is the only, "P", variant JB firmware release to-date.

Thanks ironass.
Another option if available is to forego the NFC feature as I've never used it since having the phone. Is there an unbranded 4.1.2 version out there?

Cheers
