Count me in. my clocked quad core might be of some benefit to the team. Not sure my 9600gt will be of m much use. It's clocked but still doesn't run very quickly... will check it out when I get home from work. Make some banners and I'll advertise on face book and other sites I use.

Just thought I would give a heads up on what I am currently running now for folding.
Desktop 1
AMD Phenom II x4 945 black edition running stock 3.0 Ghz
2X ATI Radeon HD 5770 Jasper chipset 850Mhz

Desktop 2
AMD XII 3800+ 2.4 Ghz
Nvidia GeForce gts220 think @ 700 Mhz (will edit Once I actually look at it)

Dektop 3
AMD Athlon 3800+ Single 2.4Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 9400GT @ 500 Mhz

Laptop 1
Intel Centrino 2 Dual Core 2.6 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 9300

Laptop 2
Pentium 4 Single 2.6 Ghz
has a ati m300 in it so only using cpu F@H

Laptop 3
Pentium 4 single 2.4 Ghz
Ati Radeon M6 so cpu only as well

All applicable vido cards are running gpu client as well as cpu client. If I ever get my powermac back up and running I will add it as well ;)

Forgot to mention my PS3 is also folding ;)

I'd love to join, but besides the fact that I can't get it working at the moment, I'm folding for EVGA. :)

I'll definitely be joining when I get home in two weeks! I should have my new rig folding along with my PS3.

Some how I don't think the gov't computers I work on out here would appreciate me putting them on here :P

Installed.

Since I bought a laptop (and quit playing Team Fortress 2) my desktop just sits idle all day/night anyway. Might as well put it to some good use. :D

Edit: What's the team's number?

I'll configure this up later I think :) Will put my i7-2600k beast to good use for once :P

I tried the gpu one but it didn't work for my 6850, i'll use the processor one soon!

I used to do the SETI@Home thing back in the day - never have hooked up this, though.

Since I Have 2/3 cards that are CUDA enabled (2 * GTX260s + a GTS250 dedicated to PhysX), I'll try to get another 192 + 192 + 4 + 4 virtual cores going on this soon enough.

Seeing as I am pursuing a Master's in Biotechnology to be followed by a pursuit of a Ph. D. in Bioinformatics, I really should be contributing, shouldn't I? :p

It's been a while since I did this with another website.
I will join this team now that I have new and better hardware. It's interesting. :)

Im confused. Im not going to read through the entire thread but the Op mentioned processor power yet the rest of what I read mentions GPUs. Set me straight.

I have an I7 3960x Oc`d to 4.4GHZ and Dual 6950s ready to go when I get home.

Nothing new there, then. :D

There are clients for both CPU and GPU use, but modern GPUs have far greater processing power for this sort of thing.

Even running a dedicated client for each core at 100% load won't get the i7 anywhere near a mid-range GPU's performance, let alone a monster like the 6950. Two of the Windows clients, one for each card, would be awesome.

I run my 5850 constantly and only pause the client if I'm gaming. Otherwise it just churns away in the background unnoticed and has no effect on day-to-day performance. In contrast, running a CPU client on all four cores of my Phenom slowed everything down yet returned a fraction of the work units per day.

Slug I am of simple nature of that you are aware :D:D

I just want to understand this properly so I can utilize my wasted energy somewhere more positive. I've noticed this thread has been dormant a couple of months but ill get right on it tonight when im home. Get them numbers up.

So I have a couple of questions, but newbie to the Folding project and would like to participate, and will be installing the gpu client on one machine this week.....new 6k series radeon video card that our normal use is only about an hour or 2 every other week for gaming anyways...and will be sitting idle the rest of the time.
Here is my question....has anyone tried using this on any of the new AMD APUs? I just upgraded one of our machines at home to an A8-3870k quad core with a radion 6550d apu. I am very curious to see how I might be able to apply the graphics core on that machine....
Feel free to pm me if I need more information or if I am missing something??? TIA

I certainly haven't, as my 5850 is more than adequate for my modest gaming needs. I have a feeling that the V7 Beta client will be required for the recent crop of GPUs - see here.

Thanks...yeah just got the machine running this morning so will be looking to install a client today. This A8 seems to be new enough, not enough documentation to search for. Thanks for the link and will check that out today.

my little dual core PC wont do much but ill jump on board

EDIT

got that error

Got my new A8 running with the beta7...working away now, and curious to see how it does. I also set up beta7 on a second machine that should have been able to use the radeon 4350, but apparently there is an issue with my new card, gonna have to figure that one out, but running on the dual core on that machine, since it is only used every other weekend for gaming...figured it could be running FAH during the normal downtime.
I will be keeping my eyes on both machines to see how they are doing. Although I will tell you that the A8 with the 6550d on chip, is running at about 10deg F hotter with FAH running....so I may look into installing a new cooler sooner rather than later. All good information to have about our machines, and glad I can help out.
