Root JoyMod 1.0

I guess I'm slightly confused... This ROM is already made for the prevail... This is the thread in which it was released... There are working links in the first post.

What stopped you from just installing that one?

Is anyone else experiencing high battery drain, if so any fixes?
i'll say just stop all working processes when not useing. i can let my phone sit for days and no power drain, or i can use phone, twitter, email, browser, messaging, ect.... and drain the battery by noon. so an extra battery is what i do, or just charge in middle of day. all that tweak stuff is just using more power, just do it yourself.

Hi OP,

I installed this ROM but it keeps booting into recovery mode (I tried more than 5 times straight).

I also installed other ROMs like CTMod 3.68, Miui, and Lewa and they all work.

I used the file downloaded from link in first post. Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

I could nee wrong but you may need a sdext4 partition on your sd card for it to work

I am not sure whether it's sdext4, but I did use the advanced menu to partition my SD and selected 1G of space for system to use. I also selected 0 for swap.

Today I had more tries, including downgrading from FF19 to FE16, and partitioning and installing on another SD card, but I got the same results. All other ROMS (MIUI, LEWA) are working, but JOYMOD keeps bootlooping.

Try this:
1)Boot into Recovery
2)Make a new backup of whatever Rom your currently running
3)Once back up is complete, do a factory wipe
4)In Recovery, got to advance, select wipe dalvik cache
5)Just for good measure, go to mounts and storage and format your sd-ext
6)Flash Rom
7)Reboot

I don't believe his rom automatically formats the /system or /cache as most of our roms do.

I've just gotten into the habit of formatting myself if I'm not sure... (I'm not home atm out u would open up his updater script and look.)

You can format all your partitions if you wanted in CWM, in the mounts and storage.

OK, I will try this tonight and see what happens.

Thanks.

I tried all these but it still did not work. Then I remembered the installation process for the JoyMod was much faster than other ROM installation. So I thought may be the file was not good. So I downloaded the file again, and tried again, and it worked!

I thought it would have prompted me when the file was not quite right, but it did not. Anyway, I got it working, and thanks everyone.

Another question not related to JoyMod but more general, is there a way to specific an interval for the sync task with google contacts and calendar? I think the constant sync setting is eating too much battery. I looked at all possible menu options but did not find a way to do it.

Thanks

I just turn off autosync in settings> accounts and sync> then just uncheck, the autosync box. If i want to sync i just do it manually (same menu, just select the account you want to sync and then the thing you want to sync)

I want to flash joy rom b ut where is the link to the cm7 no ext kernal... and do I flash rom and then flash kernal all at once and then reboot or flash rom reboot then flash kernal... thanks in advance

Ok in the kernal thread it says to make sure the rom boots befor adding the kernal.... I wiped and flashed and waited but it dident boot up what do I need to do? Never mind got er working.. it amazing how these developers can make a shitty phone wort keeping

This rom is my favorite for the samsung prevail but the only problem that I have with this rom is the internal memory is so small that it fills up quickly even if I move all the apps to sd card. I am trying to figure out if there is any way that the developer can make the internal memory as big as MokeeMod rom. I really like this rom and I hope that there is a way that this can be done.
