Juice Defender

I follow everyone's advice, and I let this thing run default values and I can't keep my data connection working. I dont' know if its the ROM, the Kernal, the user or what. I know everyone says it works great, but I'm just having nothing but problem. :(
 
when data is off will I still get texts? notifications? what exactly isn't pushed when data is set to turn on every 15 minutes?

I am using the default settings.
 
I have been using Juice-d this week since reading the original post. The battery used varies a lot day to day for me. I am happy to get through the day and evening on a full charge with my 1750 mhr battery (I recharge nightly and then bump charge first thing in the morning). 1st day 18 hours and ended at 45%, next day 12 hours ended at 35%, today (at work) so far 8 hours and still at 84%. Mostly on standby today with about 10 incoming emails / hr. I was a little concerned that it does not stay connected to WIFI at home where we have a connection, but I think it connects every 15 minutes and I can access internet and emails as needed. Overall, I think this helps the battery last longer.

Open the app>> advanced >> notification button turns it on or off

In reality it just makes it a transparent icon. Or at least it did when I turned it off in MIUI. it'll warn you that it could be closed by the Android system but it won't be.

Previous version made it easier to turn off notification in menu bar, but I just did what you suggested, and, while in Advanced, I'm not seeing the "notification button" (I have Beta, FYI)

Nope. My ENABLE button is at the bottom left, next to the HELP button. In Easy mode, it's big at the top but no notification button.

I have v. 2.2.2beta. Do you have the ULTIMATE? I'm seeing your nag button that says Get Ultimate!

Yeah I have ultimate. Thats weird though. "Ultimate Juice enables advanced features for JuiceDefender" maybe that is one of the advanced features.

I'd say its worth buying though.

yeah i looked at all the latedroid apps. there is juice defender and juice defender beta. if you look at juicedefender in the market it shows the same screenshot i posted. any particular reason you use the beta??

I'm using beta based on the comments in the Market and AppBrain from other users. Most people liked the beta version more, but because it is beta, it might be a little buggy, in which case to use the 'standard', which doesn't have some features that people like in beta. I suppose I could uninstall and try the 'standard'.

Yeah, I'm noticing a nice battery life now, can't complain. Just would like to be the one to determine what I want in MY menu bar, on MY phone. ;)

Speaking of curiosity, what is your 'x' battery savings typically? My widget says my battery life is being extended by anywhere from x1.66 up to x1.94 sometimes.

You seeing more juice savings because you have Ultimate?

I've seen +2.0 every now and then. UltimateJuice wouldn't help unless you go beyond the stock setup settings, which I haven't really done. I use Tasker to control all forms of GPS (in relation to apps) and Y5 for all forms of WiFi. So the combination of those 3 tools gets me some ridic battery levels. Especially since I'm OC/OV on a Sense ROM
 
My battery life has vastly improved with Ultimate Juice, I go 36 hours between charges now - but I'm not a heavy data user.
 
I had a much different experience with JuiceDefender than you guys.

I had it on for a month or two, then started to realize that the data toggling wasnt working like it should. When i decided to finally stop using it, my battery life got much better.

I think that if you tend to unlock, lock ur phone many many times throughout the day, this app isn't for you.
 
I had the beta version, and it wouldn't let me take the icon out of the notification bar. So I downloaded the stable version, and it has the option to remove it next to the enable button.

I like it. I went 21 hours in this charge. I had 8% left when I plugged it in. That is on the stock battery. Two thumbs up!

^ +1. I have followed everyone's advice about this app, short of buying it, and I can't get decent battery life, or have it keep my data running. I've tried it on 3 different ROMS and multiple Kernels, I guess, its just not to be for me.
 
All I can say is I've let it be configured as it was as it installed, and I'm getting 36 hours per charge. Before Ultimate Juice (the paid version) I was getting only about 16 hours. I'm very happy with the battery now.
 
The only thing that has gone wrong with mine is somtimes it doesnt turn the data connection back on when i wake up my phone. It has only happened twice, but both times i had to restart the phone to get my 3G to come back on.
