Jumping Ship

Also if 16GB isn't enough on your phone you need to cut back. It's not a laptop, it's a phone. 16GB is enough for thousands of songs plus a few movies and there's always the cloud.

November 13th needs to get here sooner!
Im guessing that you only limit yourself to games like Angry Birds cause its a deal breaker to be limited to what 12GB?

On my Evo I have 673MB available out of 1.15GB internal and 21.48GB available out of 29.7GB on my SD card. I have thousands of songs as a I stated. Like I said earlier it's not a big deal for me, but obviously it may be for others such as yourself. What do you have on your phone that takes up so much memory?

EDIT: Also, idk but i'd guess the formatted capacity of the 16GB Nexus is around 13-14GB. I'm sure a couple months down the road they'll release a 32GB version and maybe even a 64GB version at which point if I need more space i'll just sell my 16GB and upgrade.

I will also most likely be jumping ship for the Nexus 4 and T-Mobile. The Evo V has treated me fairly well except for the occasional SMS error. Virgin Mobile's service on the other hand, has continued to disappoint me. I cant see why you wouldn't jump ship for such a high end device.

Yea I might also be switching not due to phone issues just due to sprints spotty service, If only my EVO 3D was gsm :( The only thing I hate is the 100 min limit and I don't want to pay $15 extra for less data.

This will be my most likely scenario also. The service here isn't bad, 3G is decent actually, usually floating between 1-2mbps down and 6-12 down on 4G....but the N4 and it's specs just drew me in. That and my area just got the HSPA+ 42 last month, it should be plenty fast.

Maybe I'll see some of you guys on that side.

Wow what a huge coincidence! Everyone is switching to T - Mobile :D probably me too I may get the Samsung galaxy s2 since t mobile has faster data (hspa+) and much better coverage. Let's not forget to mention that it's gsm and can be unlocked :)

please dont leave me... some of you guyz were so good to us at the forums and everything and now this place will be deserted... please stay.. for me...

Man, in good coverage areas im only getting about .3mbps down on 3G. 4G is virtually nonexistent unless im downtown (Pittsburgh).

I use Groove IP in combination with Google Voice to stretch my 300 minutes on Virgin and it works quite well
Technically all that T-Mo offers is 3g, however after your data allotment of "4g" your speed drops down to EDGE speed which is typically less than 200 kbps.

I always get a kick out of the arguments where folks point out that other companies will throttle your speed to between 50 and 200 kbps. With 6 solid bars I can't even get that kind of reliable speed with Virgin Mobile's services.

Yeah, the point is that this phone won't do 4G at all. Only 3G and HSPA.

Does the Evo V 4G get LTE? Exactly.. If you want LTE go pay $110 a month to Verizon or AT&T. I'll enjoy my HSPA+ which gets pretty much the same speeds AND doesn't kill my battery for only $30 a month. The Nexus 4 is a global phone. Most of the world doesn't even have LTE yet.

Seeing as how Android is open... don't you think it will super easy to download/install a ridiculous amount of games to your phone? Think about how many simple flash games are out there.

Will android users immediately have a huge pool of mobile games to choose from or do these developers have to design games specifically for Android?

Yes because I need more than 42mbps on my mobile phone...

I don't even have that speed for my home internet. (Don't get me started on the PoS ISP's)

Edit: ok what the heck tapatalk? What is this random quote you hath given my post?

What do you think about using the Nexus 4 on Straightalk ($45/mo) vs. T-Mobile?

If straight talk offers a better plan than tmobile that suites you better for price/cover area wise, go ahead...the nexus 4 works on gsm/hspa carriers so if you dont like the nexus 4,you can take out the SIM card and pop it into another phone

I too I'm jumping ship to another service with the nexus 4. Not sure which service maybe T-Mobile. Any GSM network recommendations would be good. It's not goodbye just going to see everyone in the n4 section.

In the US your options are T-Mobile, AT&T, or Straight Talk (which runs off of either T-Mobile or AT&T depending on the area you are in).

I'd suggest you look up the pricing and see which carrier suits you. Also be sure to check service in your area.

And if you do use ST, I've heard people say not to use more than 100 MB per day or you may find your service cut- without notice.

I can't blame any of you for getting as far away from this crappy network as fast as your feet can go. And next month, I will be right behind you. I can't believe I paid this kind of money for this phone, only to have to turn around and buy a TracPhone just so I could have reliable basic phone service. Virgin Mobile in my area is by far the worst carrier I have ever encountered, and I have advised people who come to me for advice here to stay away from them because their service is horrendous at best here in S.W. Lower Michigan, though their coverage map says differently. Hell, even Boost is better here, and they're both on Sprint.
So jump people, jump & swIm as fast as you can from this VM. I'll be right behind you all soon.

My 1st mouth just ended with straight talk the other day. I'm not so sure about the 100MB daily limit but I can tell you that once I hit 2GB (I'm pretty for it was more like 2.3GB) they cut my speeds from 500 to 700kB/s down and 150kB/s up to 15-30kB/s down to 100kB/s up.

Straight Talk is a cheap service for people who talk and text with LIGHT data usage. They're pretty aggressive if you use data "excessively". Then again they are a pre-paid service who leases towers from others and doesn't have any of their own. I'm sure it's set up so that if their customers are data hogs Straight Talk's rates go up.

Then again you know the advantage of an unlocked GSM phone? If you don't like the carrier just pop the SIM card out and try a different carrier. Oh the joys of no contracts.

I'm still not sure if I will switch. What happens to my phone # once I cancel VM and return the phone? I want to be able to port it but I would have to return the phone before I get the Nexus.

Call T-Mobile and tell them you would like to keep your phone number when you're switching over and they should be able to help you.

On a side note, I received my Micro sim card in the mail today :)

11 more days...
