Root Just an observation.

When you flash a new ROM, you pretty much lose...well, everything. But, the LG Update tool, flashes a new baseband, re-installs any bloatware, installs a new (actually old/original) ROM, and still keeps all the apps/pictures/data, etc, excluding Root data. How is this possible? Can this be implimented into a new ROM installer? Maybe install your own ROM with a modified LG Update Tool or something?

This will probably lead nowhere, but anything/everything is worth looking into, right? :D

Yeah but after using the LG update tool you are SUPPOSED to do a factory reset to wipe everything to fresh. :D

This is why they make SD cards. Backup all your stuff, install and restore. Not that big of a deal to do this, which is why no one complains about it. Don't have a choice if you want the ROM. ;)

I never wipe data when I flash roms. Nothing bad ever happens lol

I dont wipe when I update a ROM. But I've changed ROMs before and usually the problems that occur is something doesn't work right or the themes will overlap. That happens a lot.

Me personally, I don't like taking chances. If I were to F my phone up over something so trivial and benign, I would lose my mind. The question shouldn't be "Why WOULD you wipe. But why WOULDN'T you wipe?" ;)

It's quite a long process for those of us who have lots of apps and what not to restore. For me, it takes about 45-60 minutes to restore everything with Titanium Backup, granted I don't have the Pro Key, so it doesn't auto-install everything and I have to tap "Install" and "Okay" for every app. But it'd also help with people who have tiny SD Cards. xD
Just flash a rom, directly from the computer. It could also open up safer flashing of baseband for us, if for some odd reason someone would want to flash a different baseband..? Also maybe a computer could interact with CWM somehow? Like ADB for CWM.

I wasn't necessarily saying the only thing we could do with it would be to flash a ROM from our computer without deleting anything. I'm just saying there is plenty of possibilities that could come from this, unless of course, the program is deemed "Unhackable".

Well being that the app is cheap and it allows you many more very usable options, why not buy it?

It takes me 4 to 5 minutes to install 40 or so apps. Plus you can freeze apps with the paid version.

So instead of coming up with some magical way of installing a ROM, just buy the app and be done. spending an hour alone to install apps would make me buy it. Lol

I mean a simple rom flashing wouldnt mess up your phone. :p the worst that could happen is a bootloop.

No of course not. But when you wipe, you clean up ask the old shit that can be left behind when switching. Just cause you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Plus with the different tweaks that each Rom offers, you can get multiple tweaks working against each other and not doing a damn thing.

There's a reason the devs tell us to wipe. So don't be lazy and just do it. Lol. Plus you know your phone will always run smoother if you do. ;)
