just deleted my facebook! :)

FB is the easiest way for me to share photos with friends and family. I use Picasa as well, but the way my updates (events, photos, etc.) are integrated into their news feeds makes it easier to find everything.

Of course there is always just keeping up with friends that I don't see all that much anymore.

I can't. I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends/family and I also use it stay up to date on events. My school has multiple Facebook and Twitter accounts and it makes things convenient. Heck I even have my academic advisor as a friend on Facebook :p

I deleted my MySpace YEARS ago.

i tried to delete it one time but i couldnt for the life of me find the delete option. So i deactivated it. I recently logged back in and it was the same way i had left it. I dont fb anymore (or much). i even deleted the app from my droid. when i get bored i do a mass text to everyone on my list and ask about their day. ;) I went through and trim my friends list too. if i dont talk/text/email/fax/sexting (JK)/etc with that person in 6 mos i deleted them. Their are hoarders and then there are fb friends hoarders. LOL "one day i'll talk to them". LOL

I dont really need to know:" Im leaving my house. Im in the car now. Im starting my car. Im driving away. OMG there is a dead dog on the street. " LMAO

only thing keeping me from deleting m facebook is nostalgia more than anything. I had mine bnack in the invite only days and was the first of all my friends to have one so thats my reasoning. I hate it though so much stupid stuff goes on with it.

I have a Facebook account, but I rarely use it. It gets updated from Foursquare when I log in somewhere, and I occasionally post a Tweet to both Twitter and Facebook, but I rarely visit the actual site. I'll keep it since it doesn't bother me, so I won't bother it.

I deleted my Facebook some two years ago now. Couldn't see the point of it. '3 of your friends now zombies, would you like to be a zombie?', 'You have been bitten by a vampire, click to find out who it is'... etc. I'm sure I can live without FarmVille.

BTW I never saw the point of Twitter either. Telling the whole world what I'm having for breakfast or lunch.

I guess trivialities like this are popular with the tabloid reading masses though.

I use Facebook and twitter for a variety of reasons. I don't play games on FB, but I do use it to keep in touch with relatives across the country, and friends over in Europe. I use it to keep up to date with some gaming buddies, we post "vacation pictures" from our online adventures for laughs. I use both FB and Twitter with my political and news friends to share info and keep informed, a much better way than watching CNN or Fox.

They're both online tools, much like a pencil what you do with them is up to your own imagination.

The thing is, at least from what I see, people do this exact thing on FB-- is there really a difference between the two? I saw VegasOnAcid describe a more significant use for twitter, but I never saw much use in FB, personally.

I feel on FB, if I've lost contact with someone, its probably for legitimate reason...like myspace before it, it seems like people just friend-n-forget, which isn't exactly my idea of networking. If I recall, I believe someone created an account for me to see what it was about, but now, I mainly use it to sync contact photos to my phone (the grayed android OEM icons suck :)).

Omg don't get me started on how dumb and pointless Twitter is.

Is society this dumb.

Didn't we have this years ago in AIM instant messenger. Away messages got turned into this drivel. And doesn't it somewhat coincide with Facebook status's?

God I wish Twitter never caught on.

poon is too easy to pull with FB... All my dates since my divorce are through facebook. I'm not talking dating people I've never met, but it's the followup through facebook that leads me to the goal

Can't delete just yet, way to much information and most friends back in Norway is on facebook and same goes for my family. So one of my few means to contact them or they seeing I'm alone without paying a fortune for a call is by being on facebook.

I have been facebook free for the past 2 years.

Never looked back.

three reasons why I dont use it.

1. Why would I care to know what you had for breakfast.

1. I dont give a damn what you're having for lunch.

2. Who cares what you had for dinner

I love hearing my friends who have facebook say, "omg who gives a shi* about that" and "seriously, thats such a stupid status update"

Me, mmm k.

has anyone else done this? i feel pretty good about it.
Deactivated mine bout a year ago
you mean dramabook? :p

No way will I EVER have one... don't want it, don't need it!
LOL, my daughter convinced me to get it. Then i got hooked on vampires, pirates, mafia wars, and some other crap...
Then i got myself in trouble with it... it has it's uses i suppose but for me it's too much of a hassle
Twitter and facebook are very different tho. On twitter I follow retail posters for deals they are running and sales, sports news is always up to the min, twitter has broken some trades before the players involved are even aware they have been traded... and just general news updates are good too.

Good point... been wanting to get a twitter just to keep up with live TeaTimes (great stuff, check it out in my sig:D)
The stuff you bring up makes a lot of sense VOA, might look into some of that stuff too

I'm glad Twitter caught on otherwise Facebook timelines would be worse.

I did it once, but FB is a big part of my social life (I'm disabled, so I spend a LOT of time at home.) and everyone pestered me to put it back. So, I put it back and just use it to keep track of what everyone's doing now.

I keep my FB friends list fairly trim. I deny more requests than accept. If you said 3 words to me in high school or are a sibling of a friend, then no you don't need to be on my list. I also block all games and other random "gifts. " Oh, the 16th is National Unfriend Day and I'm gonna take that opportunity to do some more whittling.

I love Twitter. I follow more companies, products, tv shows, etc than I do friends. I get great info this way.

I also deleted MySpace years ago, but forgot to save all the pics I had uploaded. There were some irreplaceable pics I lost! I'm still kicking myself for that.

Twitter is actually really useful when you are following the right people/companies.

I live in DC and we have some really really fantastic food trucks that tweet their various locations throughout the day. Also, the local nightlife/bar scene tweets their sepcials for the night and what not.

Twitter is also great to keep up on local last minute deals and coupons in my area. I think Twitter is a great tool when you live in a heavily populated area like a big major city such as DC or Chicago yada yada. I could see why Twitter would be kind of useless in Fumbuck nowhere areas like Vidalia, Georgia. I don't think we need to know that Bobbi Jo is "fixin to make a run down to the Super Walmart" lol.

As far as FB, I mainly use it for the event invites that I get.
