Help Just got my Gnexus, need help customizing

I am looking for a cool ringtone (something that fits the holo/tron like interface of the phone (almost got persuaded to use Daft Punk's Tron soundtrack: Derezzed))
Also, some better notification sounds would be appreciated, as the phone only comes with 3-4 decent ones.
And a cool live wallpaper that again fits with the holo theme of the phone.

Also I heard you could disable apps, so they won't show up in the app tray, anyone know which apps can be disabled? I want to remove the flash settings icon from the app tray and a few others that I never use....

Can I use my Nexus One charger for my Gnexus? The Gnexus outlet/usb charger has a very short cable :(

How scratch prone is the screen? I don't like cases (maybe sleeves, but no cases) and I do not have a screen protector....should I get one or is it very scratch prone? I hate to have such a beautifull screen get scratched.
With my Nexus One, I just used a sleeve, no screen protector, no case and it is still in mint condition (minus 1 speck of dust caught between teh screen and the mtal casing, that I could get out without much effort)

Disable apps - I believe that if you disable the app, you really disable it so that it doesn't work anymore. So basically, you can disable anything that you don't need to function. If its just a matter of not wanting to see the icons in your app tray, I think there are some launchers that allow you to hide app icons without actually disabling them. Not sure which ones can do that, maybe someone else can chime in.

Nova Launcher is a very customizeable launcher/home screen replacement. It starts as a stock-appearing homescreen but you can basically customize anything. I haven't tried ADW or LauncherPro in ICS.

Charger - you should be able to use any micro-usb charger cable to charge the phone, HOWEVER, it appears you must use the cable that came with the phone to connect it to a PC for file transfers. A standard USB cable doesn't seem to work. Not sure what kind of cable it is....

I am using original cable for bedside charging, logitech mouse cable for pc, and OG droid cable at work. I have no problem transfering files with All of them.
 
I was actually surprised how long the Galaxy Nexus usb cable was. My Droid cable was short as hell.

I'll agree with Nova Launcher as the best launcher/home screen app. Here's the app's thread on XDA Devs.

I still like the Galactic Core Live Wallpaper.

I'm curious as to how the HDMI stuff actually works too. I know you either need a powered cable or a powered dock (like VZW sells), but don't know what all you can do with it.
 
For music that has a Tron feel, check out the music by Null Factor. For your visuals, I font know if there's a live wallpaper, but I've seen an ADW theme that is based on Tron.

+1 to Daprofessor for that Nexus soundbite.

I agree that the phone doesn't have many good ringtones and notifications, and they all have a really similar theme and sound almost too soft.

I'm going totally naked and the phone is perfect except for one small scratch that you can barely see, but it's pretty long. I've dropped it several times and the plastic edges haven't taken any damage, screen is fine, etc. I actually got a free accessory pack at a VZW store as a discount sort of that comes with a car charger, screen protectors, and a holster case. I used half of the case for a few days but I just love the feel of the phone too much to leave it in, and I decided the screen protectors aren't really worth it. I feel like the curved glass helps reduce scratches a lot, especially since I put my phone face down on surfaces all the time.

Hmm. I definitely had an issue using another USB cable. When I was trying to install drivers to unlock and root, Vista wasn't detecting any attached device. I had to switch to the cable that came with the GN. I haven't tried copying files via USB - Airdroid is so much easier - and free.

Still, anyone that can explain how the hdmi thing works....just plug and profit? Or specific options that need to be enabled or apps that need downloading?
 
Also, does anyone know some decent FREE games with great graphics. I want to see what kind of graphics my new phone can handle (doesn't even have to be a great game)
Just to test it out....and it has to be free as I can;t buy stuff from android market, due to lack of credit card :(
 
The app stores from Amazon and Getjar born give away paid apps. Start with them for some great freeware.
 
Hey Temp, I suggest you do a little reading and searching.

This site is great for information. Maybe look in the thread labeled "Cases" and in the thread "Show your Desktop". Most of your questions have been answered multiple times. Take the time to do some reading/research and you will find your answers and more. I am not trying to be rude, the info is there if you put a little effort in......
