Hello,
This is the first post I have here, but I have been searching for assistance with my droid x for a while and now with the Galaxy Nexus.
I may not need to start a new thread, but some of the ones out there have gone so long and off topic at times, that I wanted to get a fresh perspective.
I like many others out there am having difficulties with my Nexus. I will be sitting in one spot and have 2-3 bars 4g (signal around -96-100db) and then all of a sudden the bar indicator goes blank and signal strength goes to -120. When this happens all calls are dropped, no data connection, etc.
I have read a lot of this is happening to ppl out there when their phones are asleep, but this happens to my while I am actively using it.
I just got it Saturday and the issues were happening right out of the store. I got home did some searching, found that the official 4.0.4 ROM was out and proceeded to unlock the bootloader, and upgrade to that ROM (I have since flashed it back and locked the bootloader back down).
This made no difference in my signal. I could be in an area where the service is all bars -60db, and then BOOM, no service.
My question is, I am aware some have the issue and some dont, so I am not sure if this is a hardware issue with the phone I have or not. My Verizon rep is going to replace both the phone and sim card when I get to the store tomorrow. If this doesnt make a difference in the service, and the ROM i installed hadn't changed anything, is it worth waiting for Verizon to push the upgrade to see if that makes a difference?
By what I am reading the radios had a slight upgrade, and I am assuming that they are the same in the ROM I installed as the one they are going to push? Or am I somewhat off base here.
Just wanted an opinion, I love the phone and don't want to change it for something else, but it isnt much good to me if I cant carry on a conversation.
PS. It seems that if I force it to stay in 3g it functions ok with calls, but what good is a 4g phone if I have to leave it in 3g all the time?
