Just HUGE Thanks

Just want to throw out a huge THANK YOU!! to SURoot and Rastaman-FB and all the others in the forum who provided extremely helpful posts, suggestions, documents in their sigs, and support so I could read read read and research research research and do what I needed to do to fix my HTC Desire and make it like it should have been from the manufacturer but wasn't. I never wanted to have to go through as much as I have with my phone just to be able to install all the apps I wanted, but now that it is all said and done, I'm once again delighted with my choice in phone.

It was terrifying. It was stressful. I've been dealing with phone issues since shortly after I rooted back in October, including thinking I had a USB brick for awhile because the phone wouldn't recognize the SD card (at least I could still make/receive phone calls and text messages, but that was all the phone was good for). I never wanted to have to flash a ROM, but I did. I never wanted to learn about partitions or ext2/3/4 or gparted, but I did.

Finally this past weekend, I got the last piece in place (new 16GB SD card with 1GB ext3). Since then, I've been happily redownloading all the apps I had to delete because my phone was full (plus a few extra I've found). I have more apps on my phone than I've ever had and I'm not worried about filling up the internal memory.

THANK YOU!!! I just can't say it enough.

I would like to second this. Only just rooted my desire, the prospect doesseem daunting at first, but with all the information in these guides I found it really easy and haven't stopped playing about with my phone since.

May I know what ROM you are using now? My Supernova ROM is a bit slow on my Desire and I would love to try something else.

May I jump in a third this! You guys rock. Whist I read the xda-developers forum I much prefer asking questions and reading here. I owe a lot to you folks.

I couldn't agree more, the guys on here are awesome, they are constantly there to help and assist,
SUroot, Rasta and hadron are the main 3, but also so many others who help by sharing there experience and knowledge.
Thankyou all!
I hope I have assisted some people.
I myself am still learning everyday. And the good people on here have inspired me to learn the Android language.

This is a great post and I have joined the forum today to ask a couple of questions but couldn't let it pass without adding my appreciation as well.

I had an easier time of it than tessler65 by the sound of it. I read SUroot's guide three or four times over a period of several months before actually deciding to just get it done on Monday night. I was methodical, I wrote stuff down as I went, and it was pain free and easy (ish). I have thrown out the awful Orange 2.2 bloated restrictive rom and now have supreme desire 1.2. Despite going through VMware I don't think that the SD partitioning has worked but hey, I'll get there.

It makes me happy that as a total layman I can do this complicated process. Huge thanks to all the contributors, and to anyone who is apprehensive about going through this, just take your time and believe that the words in this forum will get you through it. And you will be grinning from ear to ear when you do!

I have to say, this is one of the most helpful techie boards I've ever been on. Guys like SUroot will patiently and kindly answer the same question over and over again as if it was the first time it's ever come up. Some boards berate members who ask common questions and tell them to 'do a search' and lock threads, which is really a crappy way to treat people and doesn't do much to make folks want to post and support a board. So kudos to those that run this board, and those that tirelessly help others out.

I agree SUroot has the patience of a saint imo. ;)
