Just made a switch from iphone

I have had an iphone for 3 years, and yesterday i got my wife the inspire. after using it for a little bit, I wanted a droid phone right away. this morning i found a used captivate, and sold my iphone by lunch. im having trouble getting used to it, so i had a few questions. one is the vibration when i type does not work. it works on almost any other vibrate functions, but not while typing. ive turned everything on i need to. is this just broken, or is there something i can try. it is rooted, and it doesnt have anything on the homescreen but a few apps ive added. would resetting it possibly fix the typing issue and make it run any different? the battery is very very bad. it was at 67% and after about 1 1/2 hours of use it was dead. and now its been charging for 4 hours and its not done. i do have an app called task killer. i turned brightness to the lowest and everything. would getting a new battery help out a lot? i plan on using an upgrade later this year on a new phone, which is why i bought this online, so any advice on must have apps or tools would be appreciated. i was so tired of the same old with the iphone.thanks for any help

pretty sure its 2.2, but not sure if its custom or not. i know its not 2.1, since the whole screen is from the videos ive seen of 2.2.

Yeah I have super user. Still not sure if im gonna unroot my phone. Having it rooted now I can't really see why anyone would want it. There's not really anything that I can notice that makes it anything special

Alright well if i.do keep it, is there anything different from having it set to factory? I like tge way my wifes inspire works and is laid out better. Would the galaxy be the same or would it be pretty much how it is now

rubiconjp speaks the truth. Those task killers are overrated, in my opinion.

I just made a post about this in Tips and Tricks. I have for 2 days left my apps alone and haven't killed a single one. I honestly believe my battery life has increased.

OP: Contrats on the switch. When I traded in my iphone 4 after 2 days, I knew the Android was for me. There is a lot of information in here. Ignore those who appear to be really unhappy and you'll find some good threads that'll help you enjoy your phone more.

There are launchers you can install to customize your phone with. Familiarize yourself with the things on your phone. There are a lot of them. I use Go Launcher EX and it works great for me.

A friend of mine bought his first Android about a week ago. I suggested to him to play with his phone for a week or so and get used to where things are on it and what they do. Then you can start customizing. The best app yet is Tasker. There are several threads on that too.

Yeah i really like the customization with the screens. Any suggestions on any good widgets or any appear? Im not too worried about battery life anymore. On a full charge its not quite as bad as I thought. I did the thing with forwarding my email to the gmail account. Not sure if that was it. Plus I bought 3 of the hong kong batteries for $12. I did get that go launcher, which I like, so thanks for that.

Hi about two years ago I switched from and iPhone as well and just love my captivate will never ever go back to an iphone. Yes the battery life is pretty bad one thing that I use is "JuiceDefender". Its a great little app that saves a lot of battery life, you can set the setting to check email or turn on 3G service every 15 minutes when your phone is sleep/standby.

I also use Beautiful Widgets along with LauncherPro...
