The LED on the Evo 3D is the same as the "WiMAX" LED on the Evo 4G.
Thanks but I'm not aware of that one and how it compared to the main one on the EVO 4G

I like having LEDs on my phone again. I have one on my Blackberry Curve, which I finally retired a few months ago. I had a Samsung Intercept for a few months, and now I got into this monster that is the EVO 3D and I love it. My only gripe with the phone and LEDs is that I want to use different colors for different notifications, and can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. This is my first Sense device, so I'm pretty nooby about it. Any help would be great.

Do they put LED notification lights on top of the phone or just the front? Would like to look down at the phone to see if I have messages instead of the front of the phone.
I know the LED can produce Green and Red, but I was wondering if anyone else has found out if those are the only colors it can produce due to hardware limitations, or if it can do more. It should be able to do Amber Yellow by combining the Red and Green. I wish it could do blue, it would go with my theme and it looks good on the phone.
With a tip of the topper to Roze, try Light Flow Lite and see if that gets you closer to the answer.

You have a green and red LED. The only color you can make with those is yellow. If there's no way to turn them on simultaneously, the only way to simulate yellow is to alternate red and green really fast.
Sounds like the app is trying to do that but is failing to activate the red light. That might explain the green flashing.

I remember those days when the high for the day was only 91.
But for the LED: I would have liked a blue LED option, but really all I want to do is make it so charging doesn't take control of the LED. So that light flow app looks like it'd be very useful once we get perma-root / S-Off.

Coming from a Sprint HTC Hero, the LED on the Sprint HTC EVO 3D seems a bit dim in comparison, but I like the choice of red and the rich green color. The LED on my Sprint HTC Hero could light up the room at night with the orange or green color.
My wife's Sprint HTC EVO 4G seems about on par with the Sprint HTC EVO 3D in terms of the LED brightness, but the green color is slightly different. I like that they are hidden behind the mesh of the earpiece grille.

I think it was either the lighting conditions or a Photoshop job. Those LEDs are not blue on the Sprint HTC EVO 3D.
Sometimes darker surroundings can cause a color shift to blue. I guess the other explanation could be a set of modified LEDs, but I am leaning towards the more practical reasons that I outlined above.
Would be cool if they someday go to something like this -

I think that might be a light sensor you are seeing. It adjusts your background brightness for you if you have it set on automatic.

no its in the mesh across from the notifier,its right next to the ambient light sensor but within the mesh,ik wat ur tlking about but its most deff not it less im wrong and the one in the mes is the sensor and the one on the outside of the mesh on the left side is really just a flash for the front facing cam,does the front facing cam have its own flash?

I see what you are talking about. When I shine a flashlight on the mesh part I can definitely see it. It's kind of shiny with a yellow hue to it.
Haven't a clue what that is...

It's shiny coppery/amber colored and roughly square looking (although the cut out in the frame is circular). I'd say it is a sensor of some sort and unfortunately not a usable LED. Someone that has the FCC Schematic saved can probably find and verify the part number unless it was a last minute addition to Revision 2. I forgot to save that file way back when it was news and it has since been taken down.
