Root Just put on Deck 1.3. How to download new themes for the status bar?

I've tried the Theme Chooser, but it doesn't seem to have many options. Ideally I'd like to experiment with what other people have put together for the notification bar on top. I already use GO Launcher EX, so am really only interested in the notification bar and maybe when you pull it down to reveal additional info. Do I need to find a specific resource for just Deck 1.3 themes?

Thanks.

For themes go to the market and search for CM7 themes, there are many free ones and some paid.

Ah, I see. So basically anything with CM7 as the base. Downloaded a few and they work like a charm. Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. So far I really like Minimal Arrows.

Sorry, one more question related to this. Is it safe to place themes on the SD Card? Some take up quite a bit of space.

well themes that you flash in recovery will need to be on the card. however, after you flash the theme then that file is no longer needed. you can just delete it after flashing.

These were installed for the Theme Chooser via the Android Market and show up as apps. Does that make a diference

not really familiar with that app but if they are apps and show up on your card as apk's then you can delete them form you card. once the theme is installed on your phone then the changes are in the system partitions of your phone and not on your card. so yes it is safe to remove them from your card.

Some of them might be able to be moved to your SD card just like you would any other app (settings-->applications-->manage applications and then do it that way. I would highly recommend just setting up a partition on your SD card. I have a 2 GB partition so I can install whatever I want on my phone and never worry about space issues. I could never go back.

Lawson just released a huge update to his Decked Out Blues theme that is available on the market now for $2.99.

Thanks. I guess I'm not aware of the benefit to moving apps to SD vs creating a partition. Does that automatically just install everything to an SD card partition? Would I need to re-flash, or could I create a partition right this moment from Recovery?

if you are interested in partitioning your card then i would read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. it has a partitioning section and the how to's.

but you will need a higher class card to do it. i have this card that is talked about in this thread:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/413571-sharin-love-16gb-class-10-card-25-a.html

Here are some instructions from a new guide I am working on :)

What we are doing now is partitioning your SD card so we have more space for apps and to help the performance of your phone. Several places recommended upgrading the stock SD card that comes with the phone as it is only a Class 2 card and a Class 6 or higher is recommended but not required. Follow the steps below to partition you SD card.

1) If you are not already in Recovery, power down and reboot in to Recovery now
2) From the main menu go down and select Partition sdcard then select Partition SD
3) You will be asked to set swap size and ext 2 size; Set Swap size to 0 and Ext 2 to 1024 or 2048
4) Press the Power button to confirm and your phone will start the process
5) Once completed select ext2 to ext3 and let it do its magic
6) Return to the main menu

I ended up moving the CM7 themes and some apps back to my phone. Ended up pretty buggy otherwise with force closes and apps not being able to start (showing question marks). Maybe I can think about a high class SD card in the future.

my favorite theme for theme chooser is the Crystal theme by far. its all cyan/black/carbon theme that is extremely complete
