Really? I honestly must be either more color blind than I already knew I was or people have an acute sight for the pentile deficiencies. I seriously don't see what you're referring to at all. I had more problem with the evo 3d display making me dizzy than the colors or lack thereof that you're referring to.

But the EVO 3d does not display any menus in 3D, only Movies, photos and games upon the users request. I don't know how it made you dizzy. Most reviews agree it has one of the best screens out there.

The view angle issue is only with viewing 3D. Regular viewing is spectacular, if you have one that does not bleed.

and to comment on the side that has the micro usb connection, This device will have a dock sometime down the line. So that is the correct side to have the connections on.

But to the op a real question please...

How does the power, volume and photo buttons feel? they look plasticity (is that a real word?) but are the sturdy? Made of metal or rubber?

thanks in advance.

Congrats on your buy! I am about to be up on my 30 day exchange on the evo. I really want the phone but I need to know if it works with the lapdock?

Maybe you can take quick stop at an att store and check?

Nice pictures, thanks for posting them.

I like the size of it, it looks smaller than it does in the videos and that's good.

Can you post a picture of all three phones with the displays on? The display looks real bad in your photos. I can see the washed out colors and blue tint of the pentile screen, I guess that confirms that rumor. I hope it is just the camera your using.

I find it odd how that pentile screens tend to have a bluish tint even though the blue subpixels are the smallest.

On the first few start up screens I see what he means by it looks bluish. And on the home screen the google search bar is looks blue especially compared to my EVO when I look at it next to me. The menu screens he shows us though look pure white which is really odd to say the least.

Good morning all!!! last night i found out the hard way that i left the charger for the phone at home. so i got down to 15% and i tried my girlfriends charger but it didnt work. i guess the charger that came with it has a different voltage or amp amount than her LG charger. so to say the least i put the phone in what Motorola name as "sleep" which is low power, instant on, wireless off. it worked like a charm. woke up and was still at 15%. then i remembered that when i was at home i plugged it up to the computer and it charged. so i tried that out at 7 this morning and it worked! so now im charging! so that was fun lol. now to this thread. looks like i have a few questions to answer.

first off how do i like blur compared to sense. both are great in their own aspects, i love sense but hate the launcher bar at the bottom. now with this ginger blur i like how its closer to a launcher pro type of launcher bar. you can add what ever you want to it. and the blur widgets are nice too, all can be resized. they look really plain but when you touch them they open up and its pretty sweet. so i like the blur despite the overall community hate for blur.

second someone asked about the blue tint. the screen doesnt have a blue tine, its the overall color of the rosie (i guess thats what you call it). like the notification bar is a darker blue color. when you pull down the bar its a see thru blue color. when you over scroll something or get to the top or bottom, its a blue hue instead of the orange color with stock gingerbread. i guess blue is Moto's MO.

next was the light leakage. the Photon has very little light leakage at the bottom. a case would cover this up. my 3D also has light leakage at the bottom but i have a TPU case on it so u cant tell. my OG Evo had it too but was also cased.

next the question about the buttons. all of the buttons feel good. the power button is more flush with the body but easy to press. the volume rocker and camera button are raised a little but are ribbed like a quarter is ribbed. i cant tell if they are plastic or metal, but they feel like they are some sort of metal plastic composite, if that makes sense.

next was the lapdock. if i had a ATT store close to me i would test it out. but the closest one is an hour away. maybe friday when i go out of town ill try one out. closest thing i have is Radioshack or Walmart, and neither have the dock.

last question was about call quality and the signal strength. i have only made one call and it lasted for less than 10 seconds, but it was clear and loud. i had set the volumes all the way up so thats probably why. but none the less it was clear. signal strength is right on par with my 3D right now. both are showing the same amount of bars. so thats a good sign.

hope i answered everything right now. today when i go to work ill use it a bit more and later ill have more to tell you guys. ill take some pics outside and maybe a video. but none the less ill be sure to report back anything i find out!!!

Perfect time to ask, we have another thread asking if it has a notification LED light, have you seen one yet while charging or anything?

I know it doesn't. I had explained in another thread that, there was a weird effect on the 3d I was using in the store, where it made me dizzy kinda like the hologram stickers from a cracker jack box. Nonetheless, that's irrelevant because I've made my decision on getting the photon for sure. I'm just trying to understand what you guys are seeing that I'm not with the pantie display because I still can't see it. Maybe copy the pics and draw circles around what ur referring to?

Ok, Im still confused here. How do you have this phone again? Someone on here was selling it? How is that possible? And if so, why wouldnt they post it for sale on the Photon forum page? Lastly, how can you call sprint and have them activate a phone they havent even released yet? Can they do that?:confused::confused:

Aside from that, thanks for posting, phone looks good.

All sales transactions must be done in the classified forums to keep the other forums clean and organized :)

Yeah there its a notification light. It blinks green when you have a new message and flashes red when its dying. Its beside the FFC. I think it changes multiple colors. Any one know an app to test this?

You can try out Light flow (lite) I am not sure if it'll work for the proton, but there's no harm trying ;)

Based on the side markings (confidential property of motorola) either a Sprint or Moto employee sold off their phone.

Hope they don't get in trouble for doing so.

Thanks for the info..

I wonder if the Atrix unlocks will work since they are very similar.

Yeah I would guess it was a sprint employee since sprints headquarters is in Kansas and that's where the guy I got it from lives. He said it was posted on craigslist and he thought it was a different phone, so he sold it.

Handcent SMS will let you set it up and even test it. You go into the settings for messages and one of them is LED notification light and when you select it every color available should pop up and then you can send yourself a test message.

Just be careful the phone police don't come after you!

I appreciate the time you have taken and it's been a big help in locking down my choice for replacing my "crappy" Evo 4g. ;-) For the humor impaired, the previous remark was a joke.

As a tech geek it's time to replace it... No actual need, but that won't stop me.

I was gonna get a evo 3d but to be hosnest the phone feels like a cheap piece of crap, its feels more like a samsung phone now which i hate. It just doesnt feel sturdy like the old evo 4g. Can you tell me how sturdy the phone feels if you know what i mean? P.S. this thread is A LOT of help on making my mind up on wether to keep my 4g or get the Photon.:D

I noticed in one of the the picture above that it showed a SD card. Just curious if the SD card is your personal one or was it included in the box? If it comes with the box, I will be very ecstatic.

When you have some time to play with the phone, it would be nice if you could give a quick review on your thoughts. Pros and Cons of the device. Also can you confirm if it supports the 800 Mhz ESMR band? Would like to also know if the bootloader is locked (but im sure you can't figure this out right now)?

What are the text input options on the Photon? I think I read it had swype, but I was wondering if there were any other similar software or motorola enhanced versions of swype.

The sd card that came with the phone is the one in the picture. Its a 16gb. I took some pictures and a video to post up after I get off work. The camera is really nice over all. While you are taking a video you can zoom in and out as you record. as for text input there is the multi touch keyboard and swype!

For all those hoping for a micro SD to be included, for all intents and purposes, keep in mind that shawheim didn't purchase a production model, so it's possible that this won't be included with the phone.

Very true as it could have also been the previous owners card that they left in there.

all the websites I have seen including the Sprint website, letstalk.com etc. all say 16 gb of built in and no included micro sd card. Considering the price they have already lowered this to on contract at several places there is little to no chance it will come with a microsd card.

I agree. No way it ships with a 16bg ed card.

yeah when i got the phone it had a 16gb card in it. the guy i bought it from didnt put it in there so im guessing whatever Motorola rep or Sprint rep that had this phone might have put it in. i would guess it would come with an 8gb card. at least a 2gb. i wouldnt think they would ship it with no card. but you never know.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I was pretty sure that the SD card would not be included in the box but I was surprised when he posted pictures with the SD card.

It was surprising when Shawn said the SD card was included so it made me think.

Does anyone know if the Photon 4G will support the 800 Mhz ESMR band?

With the 16gb built-in internal storage, can't see why they would really, but if they do, that's another bonus.
