Check with your credit card company. Mine (AmEx and Citi MasterCard) both cover 90 days of accidental damage if you used their card for purchasing it (and they also extend the warranty one year).
I purchased my EVO through Sprint and purchased their insurance; $10 a month, no deductible, new phone guaranteed.
Many of them exclude cell phones under the accidental damage. Read the policy usually available online. I "think" Amex does for accidental damage plus they only cover you for what you paid for it not what the replacement cost would be.Check with your credit card company. You have to pay for it yourself and submit the claim online or through cust svc. However you only paid $199 for the phone, you won't get $450 to replace or repair it, only what you charged. You obviously need to send them receipts for the repair. I also believe cell phones are excluded from the loss or damage claim.I've heard this before, but does it really work? Do you have any experience with it? Since they don't really have customer service locations you can visit in-person, how would you even go about making a claim? It seems like it would be ridiculously open to fraud if you can just call them up and say "Hi, I bought a $400 phone on my card last month, you can see it on my statement. Well, I dropped it and it broke, so can you give me another $400 to buy another? Thanks."
