Didn't get a chance to check, as it was with a co-worker's SIM, in passing. My other TMo phone, which is currently on at&t (standard sized SIM), usually gets 1-3Mbps in that part of DC.

"For me", this is good news as I'm grandfathered under the unlimited MediaNet plan with at&t, so I could use data for only $15/mo.

So if I were to buy the t-mobile Note 2 I could unlock it and it supports all of AT&T's frequencies? Sorry I just want to be sure cause I may be doing this next month.

The screenshot is of my TMo phone, and the Samsung or TMo site states that it supports bands II and V for UMTS. FWIW, I have accounts with both carriers, and a TMo branded Motorola Defy on at&t, and started a thread about "cross-carrier phones"... I'm sure.

However it may be better to get the unlocked version as it will have all the software suites.

I was under the impression that the international unlocked version didn't support t-mobile US 3G or hspa+ bands, though I may be thinking of the Note 1.

Unlocked most likely only supports at&t... haven't seen any detailed specs yet. But if you are looking to be on at&t out of the gate, the unlocked may be the way to go.

If you want to shop at&t, TMo, straight talk, or simple mobile, go for the TMo version.

Yeah I'd like one that works on both because I want to try out the T-Mobile $30 a month plan but be able to use it on AT&T later if I choose to.

FWIW, TMo is going to "Value Plans only" next year.

Yeah I saw they're not subsidizing phones anymore, just doing payment plans, which is smart I think. Will this change the $30 online only plan do you think?

The T-Mo Note 2 should qualify for at&t's $15/mo "Media Net" plan.

So they won't notice through their network that it's a smartphone and change you back? They did that to me on my Nexus 4 and sent me a text saying I needed a data plan for my smartphone and put me on 3GB for $30.

Depends on the phone. None of my T-Mo phones have been flagged (Moto Defy, HTC Sensation 4G), nor my unbranded Nokias n900, e71...and I'm paying full smart phone plan rate for at&t branded e71x. Neither my T-Mo branded tablet (also supports at&t 3G). However as soon as I put my SIM back in y at&t Moto Global Q, I was sent a text within a minute.

FWIW, I created this thread for non-at&t branded phones which support at&t HSPA:

The only problem there may be with the T-Mo Note, and it being recognized on at&t's MediaNet plan as a true smart phone, is that at&t also has a version of the phone.

I may be canceling one of my at&t lines, and using an Atrix HD as my main phone "on T-Mo", and then move my T-Mo Note to my Media Net Plan. I'll post results here when it happens. I hate the thought of giving up my Defy, as it has the best reception of any of the dozen or so phones I've had, on both at&t and T-Mo, but it's been acting up lately.
