Root kaos froyo v30

I set Screen off down to the lowest and changed priority to 100. I dropped 4% in the last 30 minutes not doing anything. System Panel Light shows a log of apps running, do you guys use a task killer? I do have AutoKiller and have it set to Strict as well. I wiped battery stats before I flashed v30.
i read that you need to charge your phone fully, then wipe battery stats and let it drain til it dies for it to be effective. are you setting your profiles to start on boot? i do use a task killer, but only when i feel i need it (if the phone becomes sluggish. these are my profiles:

screen off: 480 - 122 - 100% priority
temp > 60: 160 - 122 - 100% priority
batt < 40% 480 - 245 - 88% priority
batt < 65% 604 - 480 - 72% priority
charge usb/full: 710 - 480 - 60% priority
charging/full: 710 - 480 - 60% priority

i realize some of these are underclocked, but ive seen no loss in performance.

i think theres a bug in the rom with the display. i have mine set pretty low (dim) and it still is at above 50% most times.

No on task killer. (I have System Panel but I use it for FYI only.)

Settings->About phone->Battery Use. What is taking the battery? Top 3?

Mine are:

Display 44%
Wi-Fi 15%
Cell standby 11%

If you look at settings->accounts & sync, do you have a constantly runnig sync going?

Currently it says:

Display 24%
Email 19%
Cell Standby 18%
Android System 17%
Phone Idle, 16%.

When I checked just a bit ago, Email wasn't on there. I just changed that setting to sync hourly (from 30 minutes). My GMail is auto syncd.

I have all animations, auto-brightness, etc. all off. My brightness is at around 1/5th (pretty dim).

Tried today from XTRRom 4.0.6.1 and like the look, however it kept telling me I had an empty SD card, I was able to run a NAND restore so I know it's not empty, could it be reading my partitions for Apps2SD and if so any way to solve short or formatting SD card?

could be your gmail that's pulling info so it can sync. check spare parts and see what your partial wake apps are.

you all might want to check this post as well, people are gettin about 2 days of battery life with these settings:
All Froyo roms please try this...increase battery life (UPDATE 08/22/2010) - xda-developers

Froyo will not work with an SD card with more than a single FAT32 partition. You'll either need to buy another card or repartition that card so that ext and swap are both 0.

Other than the few exchange email issues--I'm finding KaosFroyo to be fast and efficient. As a work phone, the improvements in calendar functionality (way easier to read different days and much faster) and the dialer itself is MUCH faster than the Sense phone. I'll stick with this for awhile....

Just thought I'd share for those considering kaos v30...

I'm a xtrROM guy, but once you have your settings established (read through this forum for tips), v30 will fly. As a work phone, it's ok - email and calendar are nothing flashy. As a phone, it's much better than 2.1 based phones. Of course 2.2 also has more settings and to play around with which makes it a lot of fun to explore.

Long story short, I'll be sticking with this ROM for a little while. The phone/dialer is important to me and I like this one a lot better. It's almost as smooth as xtrROm, and so far the battery life has been decent.

I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of giving this ROM a shot.

I'm finding just the opposite, battery life was horrible and it was quite slow, scrolling, bringing up apps, etc. Tazz 1.0 has been super fast though (no setCPU), we'll see about the battery life. I try to keep the same settings between ROMS as much as I can as well.

How would I switch roms? Do I need to go through the whole rooting for dummies process again or is there a short cut?

No, just boot into recovery and "flash from zip" in the menu. You may want to do a nand backup of your current rom if you ever want to go back to using it. Also when you switch roms, you need to "wipe data/factory" from the menu prior to flashing.
