Root KaosFroyo v31

Seems like some of the market apps aren't showing up, for instance last one i tried was Google Earth, I've run into a couple others I can't remember at the moment, any fixes for this?

EDIT: After doing some more research appears won't be available for the Eris, though I can get live wallpapers from the market, odd.

For some strange reason, everytime I use the keyboard and switch from character to number mode, it deletes random letters from what I have already typed and also puts at least one space automatically where one shouldn't be. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

You may want to go into the menus for the keyboard and take a look at how you've got it configured. Sometimes a checkbox or two can be unintentionally unchecked or checked when scrolling around in there. "Auto capitalize," etc.

Failing that, perhaps a live battery pull is in order.

Can someone leave their settings for the Auto Brightness to work? I can't for the life of me get my autobrightness to work like it did with the default Sense settings. I love this ROM over all the others but tweaking the brightness is quite a bit of a challenge and all I'm trying to do is set it for normal or default as with the original manufacturer's ROM.

So no wipe is required? If I just flash over will everything carry over?

Also on V30, I notice in the status bar that there is a black circle with a rotating arrow type thing..what is that?

I'm planning to Nandroid restore somewhere between tonight and Monday morning. When I do, I'll let you know what I have. It's not perfect, but it seems to work well enough for me.

Go to Settings > CM Settings > User Interface > Automatic Backlight

Play around with those settings especially Window Length and Sample Interval (can have an effect on cpu/battery performance).

Yup just go to recovery and flash, no wipe required(I didn't). Be prepared on the first boot of v31 to be laggy. Other than that, its great, and remember the cam fix(turn off auto focus, and turn back on).

It sounds like the sync indicator. There is one of those in the Eris stock as well. It means that one of your background syncs - gmail, contacts, calendars, maybe Facebook - are running. If this is the first flash of V30 and if you have ever used a cyanogen ROM, it's also possible that the ROM is reinstalling all of your apps, a feature that the cyanogen ROMs include.

Anyone try to get Fennec Alpha working on the KaosFroyo ROM? I just downloaded it and it fails to even open.. Just curious to see if anyone else is seeing the same behavior.

That's the problem - I'm not sure what to change or nor do I even understand what is being tweaked. I've spent a lot of time in there and it makes no sense to me.

This is what I gather so far:

Window Length - Takes the light in for the specified time, takes a average from that time and calculates how much light is needed (less = faster response)

Reset Threshold - Threshold to reset the filter (Basically how much light difference is needed for the sensor to activate the change in backlight)

Sample Interval - How often the sensor will check the light intensity

My settings are:
Window Length - 10s; Reset Threshold - Disabled; Sample Interval - 2s. I also have Allow Light Decrease checked too.

I keep getting a force close for the ADW.launcher (in process android.process.acore) in not responding. It is really annoying I don't want to change the rom but I might have to if I can't fix it.

switch to launcher pro or zeam.

My Launcher Pro keeps locking up, too. I've tried many different settings and recommendations from people on this forum. Zeam just looks so effin' ugly.

I flashed the latest xtrROM the other day to see if I could stand going back to Eclair for more reliable performance.... unfortunately, I cannot. I really don't want to go back.

Maybe you are overclocked too high?

I brought it back down to a max of 710 and it didn't help. Thing is, I only experience the lag with LP. If I'm using another app when I wake up the phone, it's fine. It's only LP that gives me the "wait/FC" popup.

If the vanilla home had smoother scrolling, I'd use that in a heartbeat.

I rooted and flashed KF V30 on Sunday. So far it's running great! First full day of use was Monday. Took it off charge at 6 am and put it back on charge at 10 pm and still had 52% battery. During the day I had a couple of calls, couple of text messages, installed 5-6 apps from the market, surfed the internet for about 30 min, played with different settings/apps for about 1 hour total, and opened maps for about 5 minutes, which brings me to the GPS question. I noticed I got the GPS symbol in the notification bar when I started maps but it went away when I closed maps. Is the rom set up to turn GPS on/off as needed and is there a place to turn GPS on all the time? I've been all over settings and have found toggles for wifi and bluetooth but not GPS. Also, is anyone using a different set of widgets with KF V30/31 such as Beautiful widgets?

Thanks, RF94

Tried the Zeam launcher, and finally the default Froyo launcher.... even the default will bring up the "wait/force close" option when I wake up the phone. I need to be able to wake up the phone and immediately use it. Ten seconds of waiting before my home screen is responsive is totally unsat.

Oh well... let's move on to v32 and see if all these speed tweaks make a difference.

This is standard Android GPS procedire - if you have it enabled, it becomes active only when you are actively using an app that uses location services (or one updates itself in the background.) All Android ROMs that I have used (including stock Eris 1.5 and 2.1) were the same.

You can turn on or off GPS in settings->location and security->use GPS satellites. Again, I am pretty sure that every Android ROM for the Eris has this exact same setting.
