Root KaosFroyo v38 is out

Am I missing something in this ROM. I cannot for the life of me find where I can turn the vibrate off on the keyboard when I type.
 
It should be something like menu > settings > keyboard > (select keyboard type)
then under there you should find a check box to turn on/off vibrate on key press.
 
I went into Settings/Language & Keyboard/Multi-touch keyboard/ and uncheck "Vibrate on keypress" and the damn thing still vibrates when I type a text. I am using Handcent SMS but I don't think it is the problem.

EDIT: Just tried it in the native messaging app and get the same results

Reinstalled the app. It didn't install in SD. Moved it to SD Card via the Move2SD app and it moved over w/o issue. Since installing the CFSv6 kernel, phone seems faster and stock camera seems okay.

Hmm, I'm having the same app problem, but Move2SD did not work nor did flashing CFSv8. I am currently on v35-1, and I tried v38 then v37 and had the same problem with both. I'm hoping someone will have a little more instruction. Any help would be great! Thanks.

I found it finally.

Goto: Menu/Settings/Language & keyboard/HTC_IME mod/Text input and there is a setting for "Vibrate when typing" that is the 3rd from the bottom.

Thank God. That was driving me nuts.
 
This is the first time I will be rooting/updating my Eris and I have no instructions to follow so could somebody give me a link to a video or webpage with posted instructions? I downloaded Kaos' version 38. Thanks!
 
ok first attempt failed, I guess, because I put the zip file in the wrong place so it didn't use that zip file it used a root me.zip file I had there, so I deleted the root me.zip file. Is the SD card the actual drive my computer is seeing?
 
got it to work now...I guess it was seeing the rootme file first or something but I just booted into recovery and its going through the process now. Thanks rick for the help!
 
now I just have a black screen with "andriod" in gray and a white glare bar going from left to right. It's been like this for a few minutes now. Did something not work right or is this supposed to happen?
 
It worked and so far its pretty sweet. writing text messages kinda messes up though, I'll press the space bar and it will register two clicks and add a period, but other than that it runs pretty smooth. Thanks for the help guys!
 
can anyone tell me if this ROM allows picture messaging? and I'm hearing the camera issue is not any better yet?? I'm new and this is what was on my phone when I got it so I'm just trying to figure out if upgrading the V38 is worth it or just looking for another ROM that allows me to send pic messages and take decent pictures as well.

any ideas?

If MMS messages are important to you, I think that one of the 2.1 ROMs made from the HTC frameworks are the best bet. I'd strongly suggest xtrSENSE or xtrROM (depending on whether you want the Sense launcher; the former has it, the latter does not).

can I use this for Eris full flashed to cricket. and if so can anyone help me do this? This is my software info:

I liked this but reverted back to 37. The camera always FC the Gallery was glitchy and killed the battery in a few hours. I miss the power control in the status bar tho =/

you have to flash conaps latest kernel to fix all those problems.
