Keeping Screen Illuminated

Stupid question, but when my HTC Desire is in the car, I would like the screen to stay at full brightness when powered externally.

I thought I had set this up, but I am darned if I can find the setting now.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try settings > applications > development > stay awake. I've not tried it myself but it looks as though it should do that.

That was it! However, it was ticked already. The problem is not that the screen goes off all together, it's the dimming thing. I know I could set it to 30 minutes, but I want that setting to be overridden when on external power.

Try an app called screebl

free app called Quick Settings seems to do the trick, set "screen timeout" to off. Doesn't look as if you can differentiate between battery and external power though, it'll either dim or it won't regardless of whether it's plugged into the socket so it's a change of setting every time you plug in. Pretty decent app that you can add to status bar.

Or you could try an app called: "Keepscreen" - works like a charm...
