Root [Kernel][Linaro][O/C][GPL][30 MAY] A-kernel S1.1

I just wanted to test it out and see how it'd affect performance. It's your call. I mean, I feel like I've been eating up more RAM with the JB update. I'm not sure if zram would impact performance negatively or not... What do you think? I'm not too knowledgeable in this.

Well it would be good to test it. I haven't even looked at RAM usage since the update. I will say it may use slightly more RAM for JB but that's a good thing really.

I'll put up a build with it enabled in a few minutes if you want to play with it.

Edit: zram will improve performance if you don't go above 32MB, I prefer 16MB allocated for the zram. Performance will degrade if you go higher because using too much RAM.

Alrighty, give it a go and let me know what ya think.
Look for reboots also. I stopped using zram on ICS becuase I noticed more reboots but it could have been related to voltages or just bugs. Haven't had any random reboots on JB yet with the new voltages.

Also this build has init.d (just automatically executes any scripts in the init.d folder at boot, like the 90zram script).

Thanks.

Flashed it and it shows zram is activated but swap isn't enabled.

GPL compliant on Github: Galaxy Reverb Kernel Source

At this time you can't change the clock, that's why there is a 1.4ghz and 1.8ghz version at the moment.
Google the CPU governors to see which might be best for you. They basically just change how the CPU ramps the frequency up and down for better performance and or better performance, with minimal to no battery loss.

No need to wipe anything.

My shared directory on Google Drive- will be putting all Rush related stuff here. (for the Galaxy Rush)

Without them this would not of been possible.

---You know the drill; I am not responsible for any damage done to your device. Do not blame me if you fry you're CPU, just saying.---

Enjoy.

So this is intriguing. Would the first kernel mentioned work for the stock 4.1.2? Do I simply flash from the root of my sd like anything else? I have had some terrible luck with Samsung and kernel changes. Please advise.

Yes, just flash in cwm. Clearing out most of the bloatware and flashing that kernel made my reverb way snappier.

IRC, since I'm back to ICS, the v1.1 has the governors added back in.

Good to know, thank you. I wasn't quite sure because in the OP it both said to Google the CPU governors to see which one works best for oneself, but also that they were removed entirely.

In any case, I'm guessing init.d isn't actually kernel-level supported, given the link to the app in the OP? If all goes well, init.d kernel-level support should be easy to achieve through DSIXDA's kitchen (it's how we got it on the OE using giantpune's kernel as a base).

Is this the best kernel for ICS? I'm running [ROM][4.0.4][WIP] Super Helado with Kernel Version 3.0.8-perf belial@belialf #1. Is this the current kernel or should I upgrade? Thanks

I'm actually back to ICS 4.0.4 (using the PT JBS v2.4); and I'm running the 3.0.8-g50ae91b-dirty #3 PREEMPT Thu Apr11 18:01:35 EDIT 2013 version.

Running pretty good..

Peace,
Sox
