Root [Kernel][OC] cdz Kernel for the ZTE Source

the options are...

A. rebuild the module along side the kernel for good cross compilation. though that seema nearly impossible with ztes lovely coding quirks

B. hex edit the module and manually fix said values, though figuring out where they are and what to set them to is on you. i have not a clue

C. find the info in the kernel and hack the kernel source to be compatable with the module. sad as it is this seems to be the most doable

also keep in mind the kernel seems to match the awe module... so see how swapping the .ko file in the /system/lib/modules/prima folder does. might fix it. if it doesnt fix it then check device specific wifi code see what you can figure out

oh yea and dont forget option D

get zte to give us the right damned source... i dont see them giving in tho

If someone is willing to test swapping out the .ko file, I'll post up instructions. I'll hound ZTE again today.

The first response they gave me:
Dear Zach Williams,

Thank you for contacting ZTE and your prompt reply.

If you are looking for the Kernel source code than

Please check in the below link .

http://support.zte.com.cn/support/news/NewsMain.aspx?type=service

If that model is not available there than we really Sorry to inform you that we can't provide this now it may take more time depends on the technical department.

You can also contact the local dealer where you purchased the device to or network operator to send a request to ZTE so that we can release the Kernel source code because

ZTE is not selling any product to the customer or in the market directly.

ZTE will sell only in bulk quantity to the network provider and to the dealer

Should there be further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best Regards

This was their second/latest response:
Dear Zach Williams, Thank you for contacting ZTE and your prompt reply.
Your email has been forwarded to the relevant colleagues for their appropriate handling.
We will respond as soon as relevant information is available.

Edit: I should hit up Virgin Mobile, just to get their response. Can they get in trouble for selling a device that isn't GPL compliant?

Also, if more people could hound ZTE, that would be great!

they didnt forward squat... ive gotten that one, and many other generic letters like it. they copied and pasted it as they always do. you will never hear back and if you do itll be someone telling you some lie most likely, ive gotten that kernel source is confidential, that they dont have it, etc. everyone needs to ask and if you dont get a response within a week you email them again or itll never happen. if we all join together and flood their email accounts they will release it
