Root [KERNEL] Plague Overclock Kernel for LG Esteem MS910 - UPDATED!

Hey don't get me wrong but all this extreme OC of a 1ghz processor can't come recommended for too long...somethings got to give, and as nice as this phone is I wouldn't risk the high speeds for any length of time...PG and others have done an outstanding job getting Esteem Development to this point but is anyone working on a version of a kernel that might include Zero RAM or LMK tweaks? maybe some improved TCP settings, and are there any zip-align or init.d scripts included. I ask because I cant seem to find the github source page. I love the performance of OC but ultimately stability and good battery life make the best choice for me on a daily driven phone.
Just search for me or mt on github. Also the src is available from LG. ;)

Yes it does include zip align and other init.d scripts.

The kernels have the hdmi fix. As far as running 1.8 constantly...do you hold your foot to the floor board in your car just because the pedal goes that far? Eventually something is gonna give out on the people maxxing their phones 24/7. Honestly I dont even run the 1.4 anymore. I run it at 1.2 now and notice no difference except for a select few apps that I do kick it back up for.

So I installed the 1.8 Plague Kernal. Any way to confirm that I did it properly? Idk if this is a way, but I go to CPU Tuner, and the highest I can go is; Max: 1804MHz. But I have it set to 1401MHz.

Ok folks, as we know have CWM working I can now post my custom overclocked kernel. :D

Its build from LG source and modified by myself with assistance from mtmichealson. It has a max oc of 1804Mhz (1.8Ghz) with scaling inbetween and even some lower settings added.

Its been running and very stable @1.8Ghz for all I know who are running it. It has 2 additional governors added, smartass2 and interactive. Smartass2 has been reported to revert back to ondemand or performance. I will correct this in a future build or make sure thats what its suppose to be doing.

Changelog:

  • Added a link for the 2016Mhz (2Ghz) Plague Extreme kernel. I revert the versioning back to perf so to avoid any module conflicts. But the HDMI out still seems not to work. :\
1172012

  • Added 2.2Ghz max oc for the brave souls!!!
  • Added HDMI fix - thanks to mtmichealson
I would like to thank our team of testers, they been a great help to me and mt, thanks guys!!!

The goods:

1.8 Plague Kernel

2Ghz Plague Extreme

2.2Ghz Plague Extreme with HDMI fix

Download and copy to your sdcard and install with CWM or RZR. No wipes needed. Get SetCPU or similar app to set overclocking.

Hey PG, i've use all 3 kernels, i have some feedback for you:

1.8ghz---stable at 1.8ghz, no problems
2.0ghz---stable at 1.8ghz, anything over that my phone powercycles.
2.2ghz---powercycles every now and then (once a day) at 1.8ghz, also, my battery seems to drain a little bit faster, using same settings/configuration (have you have anyone else with issues using this one?)

question: do all kernels have the HDMI fix or just the 2.2ghz?

Thanks in advance

Atm just the 2.2 kernel has the hdmi fix. When I update GSE it will include the hdmi fix, but will only have a max of 2.0Ghz.

Thanks PG. Any ideas on why i powercycle at 1.8ghz using 2.2ghz kernel when it works fine on the other 2?

OK. I have rooted with CWM, have superuser, root explorer, quickboot, bisubox, and set cpu.
My Plague kernel, (that is such a rocking name for a sci fi series about GMO food) is sitting on my sd card.

Can anyone give me a step by step list to installing the kernel?

thanks. Feel like a noob every 5 minutes around here.

Reboot into recovery go to install zip from sd then to choose zip from sd. Select the kernel and confirm it and reboot. Then done

Any new kernel updates I'm willing to test new kernels roms and themes... Pretty much anything

Hey, PG, I've been running your Kernels since you released one, and I might add, they're exquisite. But, occasionally my phone starts to lag (unfixable by Fast Reboot). Could this be because I'm overclocked TOO high? Also, could this potentially ruin a phone?
