Root Kernels

gotcha thanks, I think as long as the screen off battery drain is very low, then I can afford some screen on drain in exchange for snappiness, we'll see how the day goes.
But with conservative scaling so far I like netarchy the best

As long as the min/max for the screen off profile is the same (e.g. 245/245), governor choice is irrelevant. The governor only comes into play when there is a min/max to switch between. Of course, don't use profiles with smartass, but I've probably said that a thousand time :p.

I used to have smartass in my setcpu scaling options.. but its disappeared. Any idea why?

When people say to try a kernel for 2 days this is more for battery than performance right? I tried ziggy for about a half day and the performance wasnt there on the conservative scaling compared to Netarchy, so I ditched it, trying kings right now. so far kings is better than ziggy, we'll see how it does the rest of the day

More or less, yes. You should be able to determine a kernel's performance right away, as long as you're starting out with enough battery life. Otherwise, you should give a kernel one or two full charges to determine how battery life will be.

cool thats what I thought, if the performance isnt there, then I'm not going to bother waiting to see the battery life.

Kings performance feels very good so far, I'll give it the rest of the day and see, but I think it will be between kings and Netarchy for sure

and the winner is..... Netarchy! Kings gets 2nd place, but Netarchy's is just flat out faster, it feels faster and it scores faster, also I dont loose any icons with it, I only had once instance with kings where I lost an icon, but on top of that the netarchy battery life seems to be better too, so faster and more battery = good. running 4.3.1 now

Netarchys kernals are great... If i wasnt getting such great results with the stock #15 kernal with Rls5 I would switch to a netarchy kernal in a heartbeat.

every time i try netarchy on CM i get screen tearing when scrolling and horizontal tearing through any animated motion, i do like the performance though but have yet to find one that works for me.

You're trying to use netarchy on Cyanogenmod? You can't use Sense based kernels with an AOSP ROM. You'll need to stick with an AOSP kernel.

Maybe its not netarchy then haha what are the sbc-net-bnice kernels then I tguess I just assumed the net meant netarchy

Oh, you mean bcnice? That's the bcblend kernel. You're good. He created Sense versions and AOSP versions. The Sense ones were based off netarchy, and the AOSP ones off bcblend (and I think one other; now that he took them down, I don't remember, and I can't check).

I know you're all talking about Kernels that mix with Sense Roms, but can someone explain to me how svs and avs work on the ZenDroid Kernels?
I think Zen is the only kernel that uses them and I don't really get the explanation on the XDA thread they have.
