Is there a way to modify the keyboard on the thunderbolt , I'm getting tired of pressing the dam period vise the space bar. It's frustrating that the space bar is so small and the rest of the arrow keys are of no use thus far for me .

I didn't like the stock keyboard much either. The only "fix" I found was to get an aftermarket keyboard app that I liked. I personally use SwiftKey, but there are plenty out there to try and see which one works for you.

Go in the app store and search for "keyboards" there are alot in there. I like the Swift keyboard myself.

Check out the Flex T9 Speak-Trace-Write-Tap keyboard, it's awesome!

It has voice to text which is simply amazing! If you're going to enter a sizable amount of text into e-mail, sms, or any other location, use the voice to text, and you'll be amazed. The only thing it doesn't seem to do is add punctuation, but it is very accurate.

This keyboard also has a "Swype" type keyboard option, where you simply drag your finger from the 1st letter of the word to the 2nd letter, to the 3rd letter, without lifting your finger off of the screen. It sounds like it would take more effort then simply tapping, but it actually works much faster and again, more accurate.

There's also a draw option which I haven't really played around with, where you can "Draw" your letters on the screen, kind of like graffiti, for those oldsters who remember the Palm OS!

The app IS $4.99 (I know, I know... the inhumanity!!!), but in my opinion, well worth it.

Of course, as with ALL Google App Store apps, you have Google's generous FIFTEEN STINKIN MINUTES to decide if you like the program, or you can return for a refund.

I use swiftkey (thanks amazon app of the day) and the gingerbread keyboard. If I could build my "perfect" keyboard it would be the GB KB with swiftkey's crazy accurate word prediction and numbers (looks like a pc's number pad) and the stock KB's arrows at the bottom.

I use Swype, Smart Keyboard, and Swift Keyboard.

Can't seem to choose which one I like more.
Most of the time its swype to type faster one handed. :D

I downloaded the gingerbread 2.3 from the market. Excellent and free. Reminds me of plain old vanilla on my OG Droid. The stock keyboard app would be ok if the prediction wasn't so horrendously bad.

I could not find swype keyboard. I make a lot of typos on the stock keyboard. I thought it was me. What kind of differences do u find with using a different one ?

Although I know not convenient for everyone, and there's the high possibility of losing it... I bought an iPad stylus and use it. I like it way better than typing by hand on the stock keyboard. I know carrying around a stylus for everyone isn't the answer, but it works for me.

You guys really should try keypurr. It's freakin good.
I love the function keys. I never have to type my passwords or email addresses again.

I'd switch to Swift. But I really like the arrows in the stock keyboard. And I use the arrows a lot to place the cursor.

I just loaded smart keyboard and you can choose to display arrows if you want them. They put ten on the bottom of the keyboard so it seems a little less cluttered. This is much nicer than the stock keyboard. Can customize it a lot more
