Which carrier
I just read this on another forum (and posted it there, actually), Samsung now uses "chip authentication" for 3rd party accessories with 4.4.x

Checking OTA now (via network). I am running stock Vodafone UK firmware (rooted), so I don't expect to see anything.
No nothing yet, but that could be because I'm rooted.
I bought it from Expansys UK and was aware they were using European handsets, that's why I got it so cheap, they also came with a Euro plug in the box but supplied a UK plug with it.evohicks, your phone may be a Baltic model, but your in the UK (Shropshire according to your profile on the left). Could you humour me by telling me :
Did you buy your SIM free Note 3 in the UK?
Can you type *#1234# and tell me what your CSC is?
I was always told (and it seemed to hold true) that if you got a "foreign" international device (all Note 3's in the UK sold by carriers and official businesses are SM-N9005, the international Note 3) and tried to update it in the UK your phone would connect to UK servers, be unable to find a firmware for your CSC and report back that "the latest updates are installed" and similar via Kies.
Now I know different Note 3's in the UK will have different CSCs depending whether they are SIM free, unlocked, carrier branded, carrier locked and branded or just plain locked. Mine for instance is an unlocked but carrier branded phone.

Well after a couple of days with Android 4.4.2 I don't really notice a great deal of difference, a few noticeable things like the icons at the top of the screen are now white (not sure I prefer this or the one on 4.3)
I initially thought it was using less memory, it may be, but now I'm not so sure it is by much, but the phone runs as quick as it ever did, new camera shortcut on lockscreen, something else I noticed is aswell as showing you your alarm icon at the top of the screen(if its set) there is also the time it's set for in the lock screen, can't remember that being on my old lockscreen, no big feature I know. I was also expecting the call recognition which would tell you who the person was that was calling you ie: bank, school or utilities company or something, I did get a call the other day which I didn't recognise and it just said London lol, hmmmmm.
I know this update was supposed to be more to do with background/hidden stuff and not too many features added, which is true, but no issues at all so far so I can't really say its a great update![]()
Can anyone tell me if my 3rd party desktop charger will work once updated to 4.4.

If this is true, it's a Really, Really Big Deal. Are you telling me that my Wacom pens won't work any more? We gotta figure a way to stop this train, before it gets started.![]()
No rooted device will allow a update to come through and if your rooted with a custom rom is a bigger no no
Correct. But if you turn root off as in uninstall it, you should be able to get the update. Then you can root afterwards.
