KitKat is rolling out now!

I have to say I preferred the previous boot screen by the way. The 'rainbow' one. The new one (blue) is not as nice. Petty, I know. LOL

I wonder what it brings to the table, I am still on the fence with all this KK debacle, haven't updated yet.

There are already ROMs made based off the new firmware.

And, if you're in to that sort of thing, you can root without having to downgrade to 4.2 first! :D

Country/Network ???

I don't think it's hit the UK yet so we'll probably be last on the list.

I did flash NUTs rooted stock ROM based on the new release last night and I've not noticed much difference (although it's probably too early to say).

What I have noticed is that camera performance has improved, low light pics taken using the superior auto mode seem much less noisy. It also seems to have fixed the "cannot open camera" bug.

I also have this utterly ridiculous icon on my nav ring, which looks hideous and I have no use for whatsoever (it's some "whats new on Sony" nonsense). I can't find any way to turn it off either.

That is going to annoy the hell out of me.

Folk over at xda are saying they think screen contrast, brightness and colour balance has been improved too, but I've not noticed anything so far.

I also flashed NUT's flashable zips of 4.4.4, and everything is ok so far.

I've read that the "What's new" can be frozen with Titanium, and it will stop being displayed. Haven't tried it yet, but probably will, since I liked fine having there just Google Now shortcut.

hasn't appeared ota yet.. will have a look when i get home in the morning. hoping this update will cure one or two bugs my phone seems to have developed if not its back to sony with it.

Apart from a new launcher (Simple Home) and a new app I reckon majority of the changes are under the hood. Battery life does seem to have improved though.

2 minor annoyances I noticed (but not end of world stuff)

1. It reset my default launcher from Nova Launcher to the Sony Launcher.
2. I had 4G disabled. It re-enabled 4G after the update.

Nothing else really.

When's the next update? I want I want I want ;)

Just downloading the update now, hasn't appeared ota but as I plugged my phone into the pc and fired up the Sony software there it was.. Will let you know if I find any major bugs n stuff...

The camera is still borked for me. Not as borked as before, but I'll still get "camera not available" every once in a while. Seems more prevalent if I open using the hardware key other than an app icon.

I updated the phone about a week ago, using Nut's flashable and stripped FTF's, the FR-based ROM. Apart from two Gameloft apps, no bloatware so far, but anyway, phone is rooted, just in case so I can get rid of pretty much anything unwanted.
Camera is mighty fine, boots up very fast, either from hardware button or from lock screen, and there is a visible improvement for the low visibility shots, less noise now, but not perfect. But again, I never had any camera problems, on either versions of Android, be it JB or KK. What seems a little different, speaking of camera, it does take a little while longer now to get a picture geo tagged; it was happening faster on previous KK firmware (761) than on KK 4.4.4 (108). Now's a bit sketchy, and sometimes I get unknown location, even though phone's location is working fine, on high accuracy.

Battery life is ok, pretty good actually, with my usage, usually a day and a half, with about four hours and a half of screen time, sync on, location on (high accuracy). But, what seems a little strange to me is the fact that while I am actively using the phone, screen on, it seems battery is draining a bit faster than before, it might be just my opinion, but.. Without using the phone, screen off, I lost 2% in 10 hours, while before on 761 firmware, I was losing about 2% an hour.

Generally speaking, phone's just as fast as before, no noticeable lag, except the odd redraw of Nova Launcher.

On the whole, pretty happy with this update.

Ever since I updated to kit kat several months my camera has been absolutely USELESS! I nearly always get the 'camera not available' after taking a photo or the camera will just freeze and won't let me do anything after taking a pic, I have to press the home key thus not saving my photo, OR.... I press the camera app it and it takes like 5 seconds to respond, then eventually opens the camera to a black screen screen for like 5 seconds too. Recently, the phone has now been dropping WiFi. Unless a new update sorts out the above I'll be binning this piece of garbage.

Of course Sony deny any knowledge of this camera issue since the kit kat update, but Google it and it's everywhere.

EXTREMELY disappointed in this phone, beginning to regret getting it. Seriously thinking of swapping a HTC ONE M7 for it.
