KL1 modem

id say KL1 does the job really well! i have 1-2 bars at work where i had no signal before and battery still 24h+ with heavy use :)

KP1 modem, for me, is as good as KL1 so far. No adverse battery drain and a very good signal and call quality even in the wilds and backwoods of Gloucestershire.

Just by chance, I was in the same pub that I mentioned in an earlier post and which is a notorious dead zone and the signal was as good as KL1 was.

This is a keeper for me. :)

You ought to take something for that old boy. I recommend a nice malt whisky with honey and lemon, taken at regular intervals.*

Now that I've had KP1 modem on the phone for awhile, it is behaving perfectly and I cannot see any difference between this and KL1.

Both of them gave me an extra bar on Wi-Fi and GSM which was not just cosmetic as I found out.

Well worth giving it a try.

* I would strongly recommend leaving out the honey and the lemon and adding more whisky. ;)

As i'm all out of whiskey I shall instead have an inordinate amount of guinness tonight to compensate so don't expect to see any posts from me later.

I'm happy with kp1 modem too. Not having any issues at all and signal strength seems consistently good.

got a noob question:
if i want to change a modem, should i flash it in odin, like i would normally do when i flash a kernel or something, but only fill the modem slot, and leave the others empty?

Thx

If you're rooted you can flash the modem .zip using cwm recovery.

Has anyone got a link to the new kp4 modem yet?

thanks for the tip, but im gonna do it with odin.
i just wanna make sure: ive downloaded the file i needed, and its labeled as 'CSC_PTRKG2', should i put it on the phone slot or the csc slot, in odin?

Thanks

Are you sure that's a modem you've downloaded
Edit: every modem I've ever downloaded has had modem, radio or phone in the file name.

well, now that you mention it..
i downloaded it from the csc section in the xda thread,
i thought that was the modems.
im happy i checked... :P
where can i find a list of modems to download? im looking for one that is good for Orange in israel
Also, what is this csc bit? i didnt understand from what it said there.
i bought my phone abroad, and when i started using it at home it worked perfectly, am i missing something that this csc file can give me?

any comparisons regarding the two of these butty?

I haven't really tried the kp4. I just flashed it quickly before posting the link just to make sure it worked. H+ reception was good and quick from what I could tell in those couple of minutes.I've had KP8 on since yesterday morning and connections always been strong and speeds have been good. There's no major drain in battery like I had on KP1 either.

I think the csc is carrier specific services or something like that. So I think it determines what bloatware is added to your phone by your service provider. I could be wrong about that as personally I've never bothered to change out on my phone so have never looked too far into it.

flashed it last night,
my data was never as fast as this, which was why i was interested - it always felt too slow for what it was supposed to be.
but i didn't yet notice a change in reception or battery..
i usually get low reception at my gf's house, ill report back again tomorrow then.

I've been running Baseband KP8 for a couple of days now and haven't had a single issue. My wireless at home seems better when at the far end of the house compared to when I was using KL1. I would definately suggest people give it a try.

Can you use KP8 on phones not running CM?
