Root Koumajutsu's SD-Card Partition Tool for Prevail

Koumajutsu here once again, with a gift

SDparter.apk version 1.1

My tool for partitioning SD-cards.

This is roughly based on 51dusty's sdparted 0.6 script for CyanogenMod with a few key differences.

1) This is an Android App and not a script.
2) This does not need to be run through a terminal while in Recovery
3) It carries what tools it needs with it (parted, tune2fs, e2fsck binaries)
4) This only supports FAT32, EXT4 and SWAP partitions (EXT2 and EXT3 have been omitted for sake of simplicity)

This has been tested with the Samsung Galaxy Prevail, but may work with other devices.

SCREENSHOTS! (coming soon)

Requirements: Root, EXT4 support, Swap Support
File system supports are only required to create those partition types. You should be able to use this to create partitions that your system supports so long as you don't try to make partitions you don't support (I.E. if you only have EXT4 support, do not expect swap partitions to work and not cause FCs)

Unlike a lot of other people's apps out there, I'm going to suggest that Developers include this app as a system app in their ROMs if it works on their device. All I ask is you drop my name somewhere :D

Changelog:
1.0: Initial Release
1.1: Fixed Force Close when parsing non-whole numbers into integers. Fixed potential Force Close if app is run without an SD-card installed. Added checks for each binary individually

YO! KOUMA! the only way i can get the partition tool to work is if i go into settings and unmount the sd card. But then my problem is SSM or Data mode does not recognize the partitions but my memory card does. Also I tried flashing the sdext>ext4 zip and its a no-go as well...

hmmmmmmmm.... still nice work, you are the daniel boone in the android world, props!!!

Why not merge the partition tool and the kouma mod into one apk and also simplify the process by creating generic partitions i.e., 1/4 gig, 1/2 gig, and so on so you don't have so many variables. I'm only producing feedback... pero continuar tu muy bueno cosas!

I live in PR now I need to practice my espanol :P
(yes the prevail is in PR)

edit: I lost my job yesterday and am drinking beers at 9am so ya.........

how do you install this app it appears to be the source only and i dont know how to compile. i extract it and there is no apk inside

EDIT: nvmd i got it must be my phone seeing it as a zip downloaded from my computer and its .apk

I can't get the tool to work. Every time I go in and set the partitions and tell it to start the process, it completes but doesn't stick. I go right back in and it's still one partition. Any ideas?

Reboot first? The new partition probably just isn't mounted yet...

I'm running CT Mod 3.68 which out of all the rooms I've played with most definitely works awesome hands down, I can't explain how cool all this stuff is to me! I had no clue but I got sucked in & now I check this forum all the time! My main question is I have a 16 gig microsd & I need to partion it so I can save my apps to it. I tried downloading Koumas app. But I don't understand how to use it, I accidentally erased all my music movies everything! So If somebody could point me the right way & also how do you move all your system apps. To your newly partioned sdcard? And I wanna Aldo thank everyone who posted helpful stuff, every little bit helps!

It's tool apk and needs to be installed using a file explore. Or you could use clockworkmod and doing in there, then use the zip to convert swapped it ext 4 . I do have to get you the zip later it's at home unless somebody else gets it for you.

With kouma's app, you can just select ext4, you only need that zip if you partition with cwm AND added two partitions AND want the second partition to be ext4 format and not used for swap. :)

I'm trying to partion my! 16gig sdcard & having 0 luck... The only thing I did do was erase my card! I attempted to use Koumas partion app but I did something wrong obviously! Please CA. Someone, anyone please give me simple directions to either use the app or cwm in recovery for a 16 gig card, I just wanna make sure I got enough room for this to work because I'm totally lost!!! I'm running CT mod 3.68 just wanna save all my apps to my card please help me!!!

you can go into cwm and partition there, will work the same just fine. if data mode make swap 0, if ssm make swap 256 and then flash the zip to make swap to ext4.

Here is what i would suggest.
1) install CTMod
2) Install sdparted.apk via typical sideloading
3) run sdparted and partition your SDcard how you want.
4) go to settings > ctmod settings > koumakernel settings. pick data mode, and disable internal (unless you decide to upgrade koumamod.apk to 1.7 sometime between steps 1 and 3. that option is automatic and hidden now).
5) reboot
6) log into google, sync your contacts, install all your apps, etc

I have been running CTmod, nonstop, on my primary phone since, approximately, 2013.

Is there a documented method by which I can partition the SDcard, and use that partition to extend my phone's internal memory, without having to reinstall all my apps and set them up again?

A couple of months ago I partitioned my SDcard, via "Recovery" mode, for the first time. However, each time I installed the backup I made before partitioning the card the ext 4 4096MB partitioned space did not get used as part of my phone's internal memory.
