Root Lack of respect for the dev's

The last few days have been bad when it comes to the way a lot of the people on the forums and irc treat the dev's. The dev's are people who do hours upon hours of work for free to make your phone work better then when verizon handed it to you. People need to stop getting angry when something doesn't work right or its not being fixed fast enough. The dev's here push out updates to fix problems with the phones faster then verizon and lg. If your gonna treat them like crap go here http://androidforums.com/death2all110/166588-how-flash-stock-lg-rom.html bring your phone back to verizon and say fix this lil problem then sit around and wait for them to fix it and when they finally have do some math and figure out who is doing a better job.
 
Good point buddy. That's why I hardly ever reply.. I get on here and see some of the things people say and I wanna computer slap em. There's no respect.
 
People not being patient is going to be very bad. The saying is you don't know what you have until you lose it. I really hope we don't have this happen over demand for Froyo.

There has been talk for months and months about it coming to the Ally, so I can understand people are antsy to get it on their phone. At the same time though, as ODST has pointed out, the developers are NOT being paid for all the time they put into these projects. I can't even imagine how many countless hours go into making a ROM, working out bugs, documenting it, and then improving it after initial release.

For the good of the community people, please sit back and chill. Bugging the devs and complaining to them isn't going to do anything, it is actually very counter productive.

I know I'm a relatively new face here, but that's my $0.02.
 
If it hadn't been for the developers on this site, I would have went nuts with the stock Ally. I admit I have gotten aggravated at times when trying some of their stuff, but never took it out on them in the forum because I figured it was probably my fault. The developers here are awesome and need to be treated with respect to keep them around.
 
sooo true i just hope we didn't lose an amazing dev yesterday. i hope they all know some people appreciate all the devs work.

Well hey, they ruined my phone. You see... I flashed their rom, but I didn't bother to read directions, and then it didn't work... I mean, sure they explained it in detail and all, but still, they should assume I'm not going to read and it should just magically work. When it doesn't, then I will post XXXXX ROM RUINED MY PHONE in all caps.


I kid. I kid. These guys are doing Gods work as far as the LG Ally is concerned. I love it. I donate. I can't thank them enough. I hate when I see the mentality that I was mocking above, but agreed it seems to be more and more frequent lately.
 
I hope you realize the appreciation we have for you all.. And I hope everyone else realizes how much time and effort they put in to this.. Without developers the android OS would be nothing, same for the ally.
 
Heres my two cents.
I love this community.... However I feel this thread is Negative in nature.

While the sentiments are good how it came about imo are of a tearing down nature.
I am a positive person and believe that a positive message is one that will be 10 times more productive.

I agree that people were not being good to our devs. Those people need to be dealt with and in private.

Silently kicking them off the site comes to mind.
Note that word silently....

You dont shoot a cow in front of the heard.... it makes for tough meat in the other cows.

Thats country boy logic at its finest. I care about our devs as much as anyone. However I do not beleive in public humiliation for anyone.

Even enimies deserve better. :cool:
 
I agree to all said above. I couldn't even imagine going back to stock and staying there! As soon as I have the means, I will donate for sure. I check this website everyday and it really does suck to see people complain about something that's free. I mean, I can't do what they do and most can't so therefor, I have no room to complain; so they shouldn't either. Thank you Devs for all your hard work.
 
Thanks to all the devs here and on IRC for your guys' hard work. I try to drop into IRC and give you guys a laugh so you don't get too bent out of shape from people being dicks with "why isn't your ROM working! I know I didn't read what you wrote up for instructions, but shit! I'm leaving this POS for an iPhone!" bs.

When I get the silver pieces in my pocket, I'll be making paypal donations where I can.
 
There's not much more to be said here that hasn't already been said. Thanks to all the devs who have made my phone far superior to the one I bought from verizon. I especially would've been lost without Drell's recovery and the AOSP Froyo builds - seriously, I can't run 2.1 anymore cuz of some crazy bug and AOSP Froyos are the only build that works on my phone.

So seriously, thank you devs. Thank you Drell.
 
Also in the Froyo Development thread is my admonishment to care for the devs and drop the negativity.

I visit it on almost every post made. If I've missed something, PM me or hit the !Report button on the post in question.

Now - suggest you all hit the thanks button on your favorite dev(s) and let's move forward.

Anyone disagreeing with me locking this thread, just PM me, thanks, cheers.

And please work with us, staff will be happy to sort out mud-slingers, please don't try that on your own.
